Those wishing to learn from unprotected maps should take a look here, it contains links to maps released by their creators with the intention of you learning. If anyone has topics to add to the list, let me know.

Tux's RUSH was released unprotected for the very reason. Add it.

Doubtful anyone could easily learn from it, though. Without the accompanying texts for all the death counters, weapon damage measures, switches, and other info (I added it on the Rush site as a news post), it'd just look like a huge jumble of uncommented triggers to the normal person. You'd also need to use the edit version (also posted on the site) if you wanted to see the trigger comments.

I do have some concept maps that people can learn from, though. Not just ones I made, mind you. I'll see if I can't dig them up...

I have collections of my unprotected maps of varying sizes zipped and ready to download.

CaptainWill's Simple Maps
Contains 'Marine Builders,' 'Evacuation,' and 'Race for Africa' (an unfinished but functional diplomacy).
CaptainWill's Ancient Maps
Contains 'Jewel Thieves,' 'Space-Survival' and 'Civ Massacre,' amongst others.
The Archives
Anything and everything I ever made or didn't finish.

I must stress that my maps are laughably simple by modern standards, but most of them fit my map-making philosophy, though many are still a bit buggy.

Found 'em. They're pretty old, but still applicable. Some are pretty decent, too.

Every single one of my maps is unprotected. I don't consider myself to have the talent and skill of people such as Tux and Bolt, but someone wanting to make an epic scale, cinematic campaign would do well to see what I did. If judascloud hadn't left his campaigns unprotected, my campaigns certainly would've suffered in quality because I learned a ton from them.

Making maps is like having sex without the fun. Leaving your map unprotected is like... being unprotected. Are you willing to take that chance, really?

However, I take you to the latest version of my Battle for Middle-Earth map that never really got done! BfM-E

[offtopic] That would of helped when I made the mod version!![/offtopic]

Have you guys thought of taking old very well done maps by people who arent around anymore and unprotecting them?!? Maby just for examples? Just an Idea (Not trying to turn into Osmap madness Promises!!)

Not to mention that every map has it's own specifications that it must abide by. Not every map is the same, you can't just copy paste this stuff into another map and expect it to be peachy-keen and super-duper perfect. You also have to input human error into the mix, and you have this whole devastating mess.

Adding trigger comments is a nice touch however. But most mappers aren't devouted like you tux, and wont comment to a point where they would understand what you were doing...

I hope it works though.

[offtopic]Im suprised you don't remember me tux.
I put you on my first bound when we first met. And you showed me Kill Me. I guess it was because it was so many years ago since the last we met and the first we talked.[/quote]

[offtopic]I remember you, red2blue. Just lately I haven't been keeping in touch much with a lot of people I used to know. I'm really no good with that sort of thing.[/offtopic]

In that tutorial and references pack, I should mention that darkzerox/blackzerox made several of those as well as a few other guys. That was back in the old blizzforums days where I used to go by the name Omega. But yeah, I wasn't the sole person who made those.

Just thought I should give them some credit.

Yes, we have. Only maps released by their creators that way are to go up there.
