I made this map to show how I'd do level up in an rpg, also how I'd do random spawning of units. Just something I felt like showing.

hey vindexus i like your random spawn idea but i was wondering if you would mind if i used it in my AoS map that i'm making ( ya the beta will be delayed due to a few technical difficulties and a broken comp )

Yo vin I'm away for another 5 days as of today, so do you think you coudl just write down the way the level up idea works right here? Its just cause Im plannng my RPG, and I want to see if i can fit that in right now, but I dont have SC. If so , thanks very much.

Feel free to use any of this stuff. Keep in mind that the spawning could also work like this to calibrate it for the players level

That way, when the players reach a collective level 6, goliaths will spawn.

As for the unlimited level ups system, it's kind of hard to describe. Basically when you kill a unit it subtracts a death counter, which is how much more exp till your next level. When that counter reaches 0, you level up and the counter is readded to what is was before, plus and extra fifty.
lvl1 - 300 xp
lvl2 - 650 xp
lvl3 - 1000xp
1v4 - 1400xp
etc

speaking of unlimited level ups, i heard that if u had the ultralisk upg and then u upd the carapace to 255, it started again, i just think that is cool and someone might make it useful

Actually, my system uses ~6 triggers, not including the custom scores for killing units.

Let me guess, you used the Binary counter, and made it subtract. I wrote a guide on Assistance to doing that a while ago. Anyhow, nice idea.

You don't, it's unlimited level ups, using triggers, not unlimited upgrades. Two different things. Although you do raise the point that leveling up past level 510 (as terran) would be pointless cause there'd be nothing to upgrade with your minerals.

Coko: I'm not quite sure what Binary means, but I think I did what you're talking about.

There are 255 upgrades for armor, 255 for weapons. Assuming you get enough money to do one upgrade every level, by the time you reach level 511, you would've maxed out your armor upgrades and your weapons upgrade, so there'd be no point in having money at all.

I don't think we really need to worry about someone getting past level 510. Besides I just added a factor to the weapons of 25, so it'll take even longer.

i dont think you quite understand... if you have the +2 upgrade and you go over 255 then your upgrades only start over in the sence that you dont have them anymore, not that you can upgrade 255 more times

no, the thing is that in SC 256=1, try it in a map with an ultralisk and instant/free ups, you willl see. since that ultralisk armor upg avaukable in BW gives u +2 then the 255 from the regular ups would add to 257, but sc just turns it into a loop, and you can upg all over again.

You can't upgrade again. Your upgrades stay at the same level, it's just the armor of the Ultralisk that reverts to 1.
