I'm not sure how popular James Bond movies are in North America, but they're always pretty hot here.

Anyway, I went to see Casino Royale this evening, and it was pretty good. I didn't think it was like any other Bond movie I'd ever seen - it tried to escape the tired old formula a bit, and it was much better than the crappy recent ones like Die Another Day and The World is Not Enough.

Daniel Craig makes a very good Bond in my opinion - he's ruthless but endearing - the point of the film seems to have been to show him in a new light - as more of a human being than a smooth killer - and I think that was done quite well. When he gets injured, you can still see evidence of his injury in later scenes, and he's just that bit more gritty than Pierce Brosnan was.

Also, I have to say that the girls in this one were HOT - especially the one played by Caterina Murino.

Eva Greene isn't that bad either.

Okay, why the Hell do Bahrain, Egypt, and 16 other countries get to see Bond before we do here in the U S and A? Seriously, I have high hopes about this film. Can you tell us about the quality of the acting, effects, plot, etc?

I saw it last night, and it was pretty good. Atleast rent/buy the DVD if you don't see it in theaters.

Drudgereport.com tells me the Bonds has taken number one in the box office.

Anything with explosions and conspiracies is pretty much a hit.

Anyway, I don't like the new Actor, but the movie was pretty good.

I loved it, deep and confusing in some ways, but it still has the Bond flair for great action scenes.

Agreed. I think Hell just froze over.

Too many plot twists mar an otherwise good movie. The initial chase is so well done it almost ruins the rest of the movie for you.

Haha, it was high time they had a movie chase scene where people actually didn't just magically make all the acrobatic tricks.

Personally, I think Daniel Craig makes a great Bond - the best since Sean Connery. I know he's been called 'the blonde Bond' and stuff, but he put in a very strong performance.

The opening chase scene in Madagascar was excellent, I agree, but there were other good parts too, like the airport scene, the Venetian house, the fight in the hotel with the machete, and of course the poker game.

Where I live, more people went to watch Happy Feet[The penguin movie] then they did Casino Royale. mellow.gif Does this prove that not many people are interested in the James Bond movies, or that we have more children than adults?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CaptainWill on 2006-11-20 at 17:06:41
Well, no offence to people who watched Happy Feet, but it looked like absolute ****.

They've played a trailer for it every time I've been to the movies, of that stupid penguin 'dancing' and showing off their not-very-impressive CGI. It's one film I'm not going to be watching - it's shamefully riding on the back of the success of March of the Penguins.

It supposedly actually has a good story. My mom took my little brother to see it and said that it wasn't too bad, but the music was just plain bad.

I have yet to see Casino Royale! Isn't it about time I did? Oh well, A Clockwork Orange came in the mail from Amazon today, so I'm going to watch that over and hope to God it tides me over till I can see Mr. Craig.

I saw the move the other day, impresive. smile.gif . My favorite parts are the falling building in Venice and the Poker Game(which was intense). I like the new bond, he does a good job.

I saw it some dayes ago, and I liked all the poker playing. James Bond fits to be a sophisticated gambler. And also, I would like to say that MAds Mikkelsen did a HUGE job as Le Chiffre.

Fantastic action sense but weak story line.. Why did bond have to beat that guy in poker again? Why not just shoot him?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)Matt_Burch on 2006-11-27 at 17:16:42
zomg.. I saw this movie the other day. Like wtf.. it was basically a Jackie Chan enemy in the beginning.. i was laughing my freaking ass off at that whole scene. Then the rest is like torture, poker, poison. Maybe it is more realistic, but i miss the gadgets. The beginning part, his first mission in black and white, not bad. The best part was the first 20 minutes. The rest was boring. And he never gets a girl. Like wtf.. he marries this girl and then like she dies, of course she is goign to die. That is what happened in that other one.

Recommendation: watch the movie and post your own review.

I think the opening scene was a load of crap and ridiculous. I mean come on the guy is like jumping like friggin monkey. Other than that I liked it except I thought it kinda dragged on. I thought it was going to end right after the poker game but, boy was I wrong. It went on for like another half hour or more. Maybe I thought it went on too long because I was really tired that day. I fell asleep before I went to the movies then woke up and was their until like midnight. =X

I watched this movie and it was badass.

And now my comments...

Although the chase scene at the beginning was cool, it seemed rather superfluous to the movie's plot/story.

Eva Greene was pretty hot, but not when he has so much make-up on her. She looked hideous with all that black eyeshadowing and crap. However, there were some scenes where she had none on (or was in the process of putting make-up on) and she looked so hot drool.gif Nice milk jug shots too wink.gif.
Now as for the other girl, I don't think she's that hot. Especially once she had that blonde hair, i was like eww wtf, you look like a trainwreck.

The way 007 got tortured in this movie was the "best" torture any 007 has ever been through IMO. I mean, nothing's got to hurt more than having your low hanging nuts get smashed by a giant ball pinch.gif

Good movie, I liked the poker scenes alot.

I would have to say Sean Connery is the best James Bond of them all.

I don't remember her ever having blonde hair.

Oh, and I agree on the torture scene - I had to cross my legs.

Also, there were no wires in that first scene apparently - they used a freerunner to do the stunts - he does all that stuff naturally. ermm.gif

Remember that she supposedly "died." They found her "body" tangled up in a hammock and said that she was tortured to death. She faked her death.
Then you know when the guy with the bleeding eye went to his room to take a break from that huge ass poker game, he saw a girl on the balcony. That was her, she dyed her hair blonde. Right afterwards, he and the girl got jumped by the two blackmen from the beginning of the movie.
