Ok if you're unfamiliar with this you can read up on the details here in the old thread (which has been closed, so discussions must now migrate to this one). I'll use this new thread to freshen up the discussions a bit, now that things are getting underway.




Status:


Estimated completion: [progress]92[/progress] (92%)

Ok, I'm not good at estimates, but with the mech, purchases, gameplay rules, cash, spawners, and other base systems about complete, I think that's a safe guess. What's left? Adding in the gameplay progression, balance work (lots), and a few hundred odds and ends after that to polish off what's left.

  • 12-13-06- Added Kaboom to tester list.
  • 12-9-06- Added Psychic_Genius to tester list.
  • 12-2-06- Completed testing and brainstorming session. Made lots of progress with bug tracking, balance testing, and brainstorming.
  • 11-30-06- Added Laser_Dude to tester list.
  • 11-27-06- Added Phyrion to tester list.
  • 11-26-06- Marandule1 has vacated lead tester position. I'll be taking over, at least until the map is in a more suitable state for balance testing.
  • 11-24-06- Completed first (near) full house test. Reminded that you can't judge progress of a multiplayer map by how well it plays in single player. tongue.gif
    Back to the drawing board... for now.
  • 11-20-06- Finished setting up initial balance testers. Awaiting preliminary testing results...
  • 11-18-06- Recruiting and setting up testers. In need of bug testing, balance testing, and general feedback. Balance testing the main priority, though. Specifically in need of balancing work for pilots vs., team spawns, deployables purchases, and money system.

I get dibs on Even Planner!!!! I mean... I've been asking for it a while now and have just been waiting on some sort of general idea.

If not, I'm cool as a Lead Tester. I have the majority of my schedule open (unless it goes all the way to December... which I'm gonna be extremely busy) so I can probably get together a few tests. One question though: Will I only be allowed to test with confirmed testers (id est. If I know some reliable people, can they test)?

I'd really love to test, but I'm not free enough anymore to be reliable, although I probably could most weekdays, especially in the following week. If that's okay then sign me up, if not then don't.

Don't worry, I still have you on for that. I'm just not ready for it yet. tongue.gif


Just to note, I'll only credit people for actual testing/work, but I'll make a seperate list for those who've signed up. And as I said, whoever is helpful with scheduling tests and giving results can be a lead later, but if you're only able to do a little testing that's fine too.

Ok. Got some testing done last night. Found a fresh batch of new bugs. Fortunately I (hopefully) have time to tackle them before I send out the balance testing version.

I have more free time now, so I can offer my feedback, test the map, and help to balance. I apologize again for failing you before (with the sounds).

Also, if the map is on Installation, I can make the whole terrain for you. I got good at it. smile.gif

It's space terrain. The sounds thing was just a minor issue, though. I was hoping I'd find a way to get some kind of help on little stuff like that, but I think I'd be better off doing it myself anyway since I'm gonna need to tweak all the aural and visual aspects altogether to get the right effect. It's the balancing and gameplay stuff where I can really use the extra help, though. Mainly just testing, for now.

Once I get to reinstall starcraft because a mod F**ked it up and actually changed the game itself and now i cant play it any more... untill i fix it.

Hopefully this project won't get delayed. I'm still worrying that some sort of bug will come up after you finish adding on the extras that will somehow mess with other triggers.

Also did you ever play the mod version of rush, you never did say wether or not you had?

Also with your permission I'll probably make a mod version of this map too, since well your maps are well worth the time, cause they are so well done.

Hmm. I know you're good with detailing, but how good are you at making a balanced layout? This job might not suit you much because that's all I'm really gonna need. Detailing would only come after everything else, if at all (just like the sounds, hangar option texts, etc.).

Frankly, the whole damn thing is likely weak in the terrain department. tongue.gif I had one early model layout for the terrain but it didn't turn out too well for this type of gameplay, so I simplified into it's current forum. That too I think has lots of wasted space and doesn't open up too many options for gameplay events and missions. Of course, before I can do the terrain revision properly, I need to have the events and missions plotted out (so I know where and how to put stuff). You'd have to wait a bit for terrain stuff, unfortunately.

Actually I haven't. I can't remember exactly but I had a few issues preventing me from getting it working (not the least of which is lacking my SC CD to run mods pinch.gif ). I'll try again to get it to work later when I can get ahold of a new one.
