Hello everybody, i'm presenting this 1vs1 map for the melee map contest


Terrain : Twilight world

Map dimensions : 96*96

Expands : 10

It's my first finished melee map and i think it's not so bad happy.gif



I made some modifications, sorry i don't have the picture but the download link is under :

An other thing, the gas are balanced at corners, i have just tested it

I think you have a few too many expansions. Remove some of them and it'll be pretty good. Not as important but still helpfull would be to blend that top ramp better. Here's a suggestion for which expansions to remove. I'd say, remove the ones in red and think about removing the ones in green.

Your number of expansions is correct. 10 is a good number for a 2 player map (If RoV is any standard). I think you can build on that backwards map. That's a bad thing. It looks pretty difficult for Protoss to pull flanks against a Terran on this map (very tight, lots of obstructions). The 4 mineral expansion is kinda cute =P Other than that it's a very pretty map. Just doesn't appear from the picture to have any flanking room whatsoever. I think your biggest problem is (like many other entries here) is you just chose a map size too small for what you wanted to do.

PS: It kinda irritates me that you just signed up today =P We'll see if judges care though.

Not if the map is this good. If it was worse I would like time for suggestions.

Looks like itll play just like Paranoid Android but probably won't. I like the setup, you pulled off 96*96 pretty well. I don't see anything that can be fixed at this point. Good work.

You also have gas issue (geysers from the top and left mine at max efficiency with 3 peons, from the right and bottem, they need 4). I dunno what your comment about PA is based on Yenku =S Looks like it'll play nothing like it. Flanking room COULD be fixed by removing all the stupid obstructions in the middle.

Also, nat looks very hard to defend for ZvT

I like it, with a few changes I'd play on it.

Change:
- In the first expo, change the doodad and mountain near the bridge. Feels really cramped with it there. Maybe keep the doodad.

- The mountain that allows you to go behind the middle minerals is neat but it makes flanking harder. Just removing it would be good. Make that thing in the middle a bit smaller.

Awesome map!

EDIT: From the picture, the top ramp looks very unfair. I think you did it wrong. Please refer to other maps to get examples of how to do it. Right now I don't think I would play on it because of that. Also after looking at the map again. You know those mountains below the top right minerals? They are not the same as the mountains to the top of the bottom left minerals. Something to fix.

I just said it looked like it would play like PA, because in both the nats have a another smaller expo thats like in a backdoor entrance to the nat, and then a high ground expo. I dunno, I wasn't really comparing the two maps, I just thought it looked similar.
