Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> invisable text
Report, edit, etc...Posted by roryfenrir on 2006-11-24 at 00:47:00
alright im doing some laps in my map that require periods (.) and the three ivisable text things i have dont work.

The first, is starforge plus's. It wipes out anything behind it. (didnt used to do this)

The second is on colors 1.4. It just doesnt work.

The third is on the new scm draft and when i go to unit setings and to custom name it wont let me go over anymore in the text box so i can put in the <14> before the periods. I tried putting <14> in starforge but of course i showed up.

Help? is there a invisable text anymore?

What are you trying to overlap? I can most likely overlap it for you without invisible marks, which won't really answer your question, but it'll solve your problem.

Well I could give you my formula (actually it's D-Von's, what a great guy for giving it to me). Unit names are considerably easier to overlap than briefings and leaderboard titles. Unit names ALWAYS work, while with briefings and leaderboard titles sometimes they just don't want to work. What is it that you're trying to overlap?

Oh units names are easy, here's the formula.

0-1 6 tabs 2 spaces
2-3 5 tabs 2 spaces
4-6 4 tabs 2 spaces
7-8 3 tabs 2 spaces
9-10 2 tabs 2 spaces
11-12 1 tab 2 spaces

With lower numbers like 0-1 and 2-3 it sometimes requires some tweaking, just add or subtract a tab and it should be dandy. It's the same with some unit names (such as ones that include a lot of small characters such a "l"). Here's how you implement it.

[b] = back overlap [f] = front overlap [t] = tab [s] = space

[b]Marine[f]Marine[t][t][t][t][s][s]

Marine is 6 characters so you have 4 tabs and 2 spaces. You can insert all the colours you like, they don't affect the overlapping at all.

There is a formula to stacking? Meh..I always spent my time trying to figure out how to stack names. It's true that Briefings and Display txt message is harder than unit names. This formula could come in handy. Thx Other happy.gif

No problem although D-Von is more to thank than me. He was a godsend for me.

For stacking briefings I'd suggest using the same method, but with more trial and error. When the second word is to the right of the first word add a tab, if it's to the left of the first word remove a tab. Once you get it down to a point where removing a tab puts it to the right and adding a tab puts it to the left do the same thing you did earlier, except use spaces. This usually works for me, although sometimes I have to add a period add the end. I usually use an invisible mark, but if that doesn't work anymore it's not a big deal to have period at end of the word, it's barely noticeable actually.
