Welcome to my first mod, Age Of Evolution. This started with me tinkering with dat edit for the 30 minute mod making contest, where i felt i might do well with such a short amount of time for all contestants. A winner was never picked, but i thought i did well, so i continued from there. Thanks to friends of mine on Bnet helping me test this its developed into a total weapon conversion, which i will soon make a total conversion as i learn thing. Right now i only know how to dat mod, and so the rest, including the Iscript and GRP modding, will come as i learn it or if others would like to contribute.
Changes:
Whats done:
Every weapon. No really, ive switched around, edited and changed every units weapon. The main changes are weapon attack speeds, damages, and ranges. Most units now have a lower attack with a faster, longer ranged weapon. Ive changed the upgrades to fit them for each race and as soon as i learn iscripting more will be done. It would take a long while to type it all so instead i have screen shots:
What needs to be done:
I need to learn Iscripting and GRP modding before i can go any further with this mod. More changes as i learn how to make them folks.
What i plan to do:
I plan to change each race into a more evolved state. Kind of like a semi-expansion pack or something. I want to mess around with already existing building pieces to creater cooler looking ones, perhaps adding more units and such. Im really planning on making this big, but im taking it one step at a time.

I have learned how to use TblPad, so all units, buildings, and weapons have had their names changed to better fit them. These are not final and might be changed.

A mod that only changes weapons are quite boring, so it's good to know you will add grp changes too.
I know. Dat mods are the easiest to do, which is why i started with it. I just managed to get ICE to work for me, so expect an update soon.
Meh...weapon mods are really quite boring. I appreciate the effort, but once weget some iscript effects it will be much better. And unless you really care about all-version compatibility, tech tree edits are nice too...
And I would guess that we won't do it for next mod night.
I was joking when i posted that in MM, obviously. But im working on it. Im learning to use buttons in datedit that i ignored before, and found a few things that crash from trial and error.
The problem is i dont like the IceXP that was modified by NirvanaJung, and i used IceCC once in the past when i first took a crack at modding. I like IceCC but it stopped working again. So im going to have to fix that first.
I know nothingabout iscripting, but I hear IceCC is better than ICE.
And you totally stole my yamato shooting firebats.
I didnt give the firebats Yamato. I gave them...*Opens datedit*...Labeled as Hellfire missles, graphic being the arclite shock cannon hit. Icon still flamethrower. But i did give siege tank and ultralisks the yamato, and arb has that for its missle graphic.
IceCC is much better than Ice. I dont say this cause I use IceCC only I say this because I am probably the only pro with Ice and Ide rather use IceCC but once you start something on Ice you cant convert unless you start over.
Also why are there marines on top of your bunkers??? did you give the bunkers marine turrets????
No. I took those screen shots in single player with KCDan's 1.14 Multi Hack Multi COmmand and Map Hack Utility, 1.1. It was me and 7 comps, and i wanted to have them battle on a fastest FFA to show off the mod.

Define 'pro'.
ICE, in my opinion, is better, thanks purely to the *.grp preview, since there's only a couple things I can't do in ICE that I've seen done in IceCC, and I have a way around that soon anyways.

Just a tip, that may make sprite overloads a lot easier to accidentaly cause, and, though you've probably already considered this, will greatly increase the value of armor.
Im doing my best to balance them out Ez. And i think ive done ok.
The Dragoon and Carrier (Fastest firing units) were tested as their base attack VS other units. With +3 attack possible for both, and +3 armor possible for all units in game i think they work ok.
As for sprite overloads, i never planned it to be something played in an 8 player match, or even more then 4 for that matter, so i wouldnt think it a problem unless your on an 8 player money map, or some map using alot of sprites, where the mod wasnt directed to be played. But thanks again for the input.

I am haing the same delayance as you with my mod, CorboboCraft. I'm currently learning to iscript.
And yeah Custom Graphics are a very important part of mods but what the hell when you have cool weapons
