Description

four people per team, when banning someone, someone from both teams must be banned so its never uneven, and it it is, game will ranomly choose a player to be dropped. basically, its same rules as normal dodge ball.


things included
  • ban section
  • throw ball
  • balls picked up (only can have 2 balls at a time and there is only 6 balls in game)
  • how many rounds to be played (1,3,5,10)
  • (might be) mini game


Other

Dodge Ball Players will be Devouring One
The 6 Dodge Balls will be either a Wraith, Corsair, or one of the Power Ups.
All players will be allied so there is no attacking the other team.

There used to be a slew of dodge ball maps that were popular on USWest for a while. How they did it was if you're away from the corners the ball goes straight in front of you, but if you go to a corner it goes diagonal across the other players space.

• What are you using as a ball?
• how will someone dodge a ball if they can't see it?
• what method are you using to throw the ball?
• how are you going to work on this map and your other 2 maps?

Chance on most sports maps (basketball, dodgeball, etc) is a bad idea. People want skill to be the main factor.

1 im thinking about useing the psi disrupeter at a ball not sure yet
2 the ball wont move instantasly to someone when you thrown it, it will be controlled by a grid(just be moving very fast)
3youll have a civ in a 1x2 area, youll have 2 1x1 areas above it, a ball will apear in them when youve picked 1 up and then u can throw it by moving the civ over to the right, and youll have a observer or something to controll where you want the ball to go
4 ill probly stop working with carried defense, im no good at making carried defence, im not good at making defence

Sounds cool...sounds like a sweet different kind of dodgeball map, just incase you didn't know there are some dodgeball maps already that are popular...but this type or dodgeball seems like it will do alright biggrin.gif

Wouldn't it work better to have a corsair or overlord belonging to a computer as a ball? You could have an archon as the player to attack the corsair or overlord to "throw" the ball (because normally they'll run away in the exact opposite direction) .You could have a location on each overlord and have sort of a switch to determine which side is going to be hit and which will be safe.
As for catching the ball, couldn't you have a location on each archon or whatever unit you use as the player, and when the ball comes, and other conditions are met (like the switch), you could have a tank to siege, or have a dropship unload a unit, so you can catch the ball. i wouldn't suggest an ovie...lol. however, if you're using archons at the 'player.' you could make players kill the ball before they hit them in order to catch it. archons have a slight range, so it works.

The problem with an ovie or an archon is that they move slowly. Also, they would be attacked so they turn at once. This could be stopped with ally triggers, but whatever. tongue.gif
Use player 9 or something for balls if you do it this way so you still can keep 8 players.

actually i was going to make it when a player throws a ball, the ball belongs to the player it was thrown from so that way you know who got you out, and im still going with my origanal idea as the zergling(devouring one) being the player. I might make the ball a wraith or corsair though.

I thought one of the rules of dodge was:
If you catch the ball before it touches the floor, the other person is out. Can a player please control more then 1 character? Like 4-6 units? That way it adds more to the chaotic fun.

Chance would be a horrible decision for this map in my opinion. In a game like this, you actually want to be able to catch it using skill. Good luck.

Look at the current Dodge ball map by everyone's favorite MArmy. There are 5+ clans I can name made JUST FOR THAT GAME! O_O (ex, GgG, iD, DsX, tN, DoD (Where ever they went))

Skill leads to obssession. Obessession leads to fan club clans. Clans lead to Arguements. Arguements lead to moose having to intervine cause it makes its way on sen and he dun like it XD. JUST THINK ABOUT THE MOOSE :O

The action seems like it will be slow paced since you have to get used to the controls and move around instead of the normal run to a crystal to make an explosion and kill someone, is there anything you are trying to do to speed up this game?

About Dodging:
I might have a good method that you could use for people to dodge balls. You would have a location following the player the whole game (Every player). If the ball is at the location following the player about to get hit, the scourge is killed at that location and so is the player. If the player moves, you might be able to set a switch so the ball has a 1/4 chance of hitting the player when it moves.
And maybe you should change the unit to a fast air unit.
