Today I woke up with only 6GB of disk space. I started deleting some files but still did not make any space I deleted them from the recycler also and still did not make any space then I realized there were tons of hidden files under my windows account (temporary files to be exact) I didn't care and just deleed them, my account was about 9GB and now it is 2.5GB
Ok, So I have 2.5GB in my account
5.5GB of music
windows is 3.70GB in my computer
the other files are 6GB(program files other folders in C:\)
I have 9GB of free space(about)

So if you sum it all it's about 27GB or so.
I have a 60GB HD.

Where are the rest of the GBs? Any ideas? Help me find them! tongue.gif

Delete all your cookies, search for ads, and delete games that you don't play. Also, these days you can get 600 GB just for 240$. Of course, 7600RPM speeds each and 300 GB on one drive. Thus, you get 1 drive with 300 GB with 120$. You seriously need more space Corbo sad.gif. I'd suggest a 160GB drive.

Are there other accounts on the computer? You suggested that there might be. If that's the case, there might me gigs of files under those, such as music and pictures. Is that the case?

Yes there are but none of them is even 500MB that's why I got surprised when I saw my sister's because she is the one that installs random files and it's the one account that takes less space..

Any other ideas?

I find your sister suspicious.

You recently stated that you've started downloading files using a torrent client. You were also unable to reproduce said files.

It is possible that you've copied said files and/or tried to change the format, causing duplicate unknowns. I don't what you have done here, but there are a whole bunch of possibilities.

Also torrent clients aren't the most of reliable sources. Sure, most of us use P2P clients like Limewire, but from my knowledge, a torrent works differently. You download the .torrent file, which then determines which files you will download from the P2P system. The difference between this and simpler P2P programs, is that here you get a file which dictates which files you will download, in the P2P you select the single file(s). The problem with the .torrent is that average users won't generally know what is inside that .torrent file, you may be downloading hidden files which you do not know about.

That's just what I could think about your problem, if anyone would correct me on the .torrent statement, please do so as I don't have much experience there.

It shouldn't because if you're downloading a 900 mb file, and a large hidden file(because a small hidden one wouldn't really matter) then that would factor in the total size of the file you are downloading.. so if you only see 900 mbs, but the total is 1900, then there is a problem.. but nobody would seed it then, which is why torrents rock tongue.gif

And yes, that is how torrents work, your client uses the .torrent to locate the actual files ~.~

Try CCleaner, it'll free up some space I assume...
http://www.ccleaner.com/

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup, too.

Thanks I'll try that and Beer, It sounds logic but by recently I mean yesterday and I haven't downloaded that much files (to weigh up 35 GBs) I don't think I could download that size in less than 48 hours besides I just downloaded 3 CDs and they were about 100MB

Does your sister download porn?

If not, I'd suggest buying a new hard drive. You can get a good 320 GB SATA 3.0 GB/sec drive for $85 nowadays.

Delete your system restores, in my experience they are the #1 HD space eater.

Try the most overlooked possibility ever, empty your recycling bin w00t.gif

Other than that, Look around your prefetch folder and any other temp. folders and delete the files inside (CCleaner does a kick ass job at this).

+I've never made system restores (unless they do themselves automatically)

+No lol, I don't think my sister downloads porn

+I have already emptied the recycler

CCLEANER!!

I believe Windows default's settings saves 12% or something of your harddrive space as system restore space, I'm not sure, something like that..

Haha, I remember TPC on Campaign Creations once saying that 3 of his female friends had more porn on their computers than him.
