It's VERY recommended you know Java before you even try using this. It requires Java Documents which can be downloaded from java.sun.com, but chances are, if you use Java, you already have them.

http://robocode.sourceforge.net/

Essentially, you're programming bots with a set code, but you can make your own code too to counter things. Easy to start, difficult to master. You can see a list of all the methods and classes under help > Robocode API.

It's intensely fun, and I just started today. My Java class is doing this to help us get the whole Java thing down ('cause most don't get it) and we'll have a tourney soon.

I wish to hell I could play these programming games. But I don't know Java. sad.gif If you can find a programming game that runs on Excel 4.0, I might play it.

Robot Battle is better

Robocode works for mac... So its IMMENSELY better by my standards. Plus robot battle looks like the same thing with different graphics.

Kow, you can see if your bot can beat my newb bot I made back when our programming class did the same project.

It was quite good against the opponents in my Programming 1 class, because they were idiots.
At any chance we should have an SeN team bot or something. That could be fun. (Like anyone adds what they want to it.)

Can you play even if you don't know Java?

Robocode apparently came before robot battle, which is odd because robocode seems more beta like.

No. Unless you use the built in bots.. but that's no fun since the battles will always be the same.

Umm.. that makes sense.

Well, robocode is not really programming in java, its more like starcraft triggers in a friendlier format. (As in the stuff you call upon is already set up, you just make the things come together.)

The bot I made at home isn't really much of a fighter right now, but I'll save this and try it against the one I made at school that is better, i think >.>

I downloaded this one since I don't have experience in Java, and its pretty cool. I haven't actually gotten around to making a fully functional NubBot yet, however. Haven't got the time...
