Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Smarter AI Structure?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by fusioneko on 2006-12-08 at 13:09:07
Well it's been awhile since I Been here. Im trying to somehow make my AI Smarter, I looked at tose 7 v1 maps but all they are is overpowereed units. I need a structure or a line of triggers that makes the AI Smart.

Well,... I did not use t he search function but, I Becuase the search function is capped at a minimum 4 Letter Thing. I could search AI

However Fast response on this can get me to get what I need done. Yes i know what ALL and each AI setting does. Im trying to Make My AI more Agressive instead of just building, A little bit more attacking but I dont want to use triggers. I want them to think on thier own. Yea sure i dont want t o use to many triggers that is.

Well, use some AI edit tool. You CAN write your own AI scripts for SC, but this already is some sort of modding. Also, it is not _that_ simple, you have to put lots of thinking into AI scripts.
It's probably easier to do it with triggers.

Yea Well Ill do it with triggers, But I dont want any triggers that'll make them be repeative. I mean I dont want them to use the SAME outcome.

theres no easy way to do it then. and Its not like you can tell the computers to build a building at x location. or produced a unit at x building.

Well, you could have the computer be randomized, but that wouldn't be very effective either...

Blackman used to train melee on computer AI's which were equivalent to Boxer's. This is off B.Net though

Im Trying to working on my map, Whicth involves computers killing each other. But most the do is expand first before attacking., I need them a bit more Agresssive, Well Im trying to figure this out. It'll come into play somehow. I gotta think

I HIGHLY doubt that. You could give them 100000 ore every minute, yes, but that would not be intelligent. And you could still come with a single worker and withdraw all the computer's workers so that he is delayed in building time (money is not the issue with 100000 ore, but no workers = no buildings = slower tech).

But that AI certainly was NOT as gameplay-intelligent as Boxer (dunno how intelligent Boxer is in rl tongue.gif ).

u dont know what ur talking about. He programmed his own AI to follow boxer's BO's and style

Did you ever take a look at what is possible with AI editing in Starcraft?

Yes, you can make the AI follow a certain BO, but you can NOT make a computer use micro. Not even talking about Boxer micro, but about the most basic micro.
And I ask you: What would Boxer be without his micro? pinch.gif

Ya that was the rumor. Blackman laughed however when interviewed about this as he had no clue as to how this rumor started. A lot can be done however w/ Ai modding and it's not as hard as it may seem.www.EntropyZero.org/BroodwarAi.html

Of course a triggered map will always be the tuffest Ai. Combine a well written triggered map w/ a custom Ai and the replayability would be endless!

Ok just thought I'd add a comment about the Blackman rumor and our site/ai forum. good luck w/ your project. smile.gif

If you do this, would everyone need the AI script downloaded in their SC to work on the map? Or the script will automatically work for everyone.

You could make it into an SCMLoader map, but then everyone would have to be running SCMLoader...
