We played a nice 2.5 hour intense game of STF. tongue.gif A replay if you want it, and a special version of SCMLoader that is required to make it work. If anyone wants to post any screenshots, go ahead...

Just one note on that file. That special SCMLoader version needs to be in the same folder as the exe file for the STF mod (STF_244.exe). It was basically just a quick hack of SCMLoader's code to make it so we were able to watch that replay on Saturday. tongue.gif

The reason for the special loader is that the current version of the FireGraft beta that is available does not perform the patches when a replay is being played. I've already given the needed information to DoA, so it should be fixed in the next version.

Where can I find this special version?

EDIT: Oh, NVM, it was in the .zip. I am silly...

I only made 3 screenshots.

Building the Ospreys and training the soldiers for an attack; Herc gets dropped from the game.

Loading the Osprey to start the final attacks; showing part of the defense that destroyed a few groups of attackers.

Don't mention any details of the game to Pie_Sniper; he might start having flashbacks of back then. lol

IF that's the change I think it is, 0.87 has it done.

I'm referring to the change in when FireGraft performs and undoes its patches. The information I'm talking about is those files I mentioned that you could watch for in calls to SFileOpenFile/Ex. That change was made a while ago, correct? (since it would be such a simple one)

Dear everyone:
Saturday's STF game was in a word, awesome. Many great skirmishes that could have gone either way, and an amazing comeback at the very end.

Match begins with me making a quick Scout/Sentrygun build and killing off all of Voy's Engineers. Only after watching the replay did I learn Voy had also sent a Scout into my base at the same time, but because I had the foresight to build a Sentrygun it was easily dispatched. Voy began making Soldiers from his Assault Facility, so I scampered my little Scout out of there before things got too hot.

I then discovered Shadowflare's base, and took out a few of his Engineers before he produced a Scout of his own. A bad click caused me to engage one of his Engineers instead of the Scout (who was locked in the Engineer traffic), so his Scout got a few good hits in. I elected to take my winnings and leave, running my Scout home.

One Scout still alive: +200m, 25f
Numerous Engineers Slaughtered: -Bajillions

My next order of business was an Espionage Facility. Snipers make excellent base defenders due to their long range, so I could spread them out and still cover my entire base. Spies are also merciless against anyone without Scouts or Lvl3 Sentryguns.

Various battles waged, from APCs firing their Artiller Cannons, Demomen throwing down MIRVs, and deadly Assault drops, the game was intense. Voy made several successful Assault drops on my allies, but when he dropped on me he lost his entire expeditionary force.

Tactical Note: Never drop slow-moving Soldiers in one lump if your opponent is using spread-out Snipers. They will never be able to find and move to all of them, and will just get picked off trying. Use your Osprey to locate the Snipers and drop a few Soldiers or HW Guys near them for a quick kill. Pack up and repeat. Voy had employed Sniper defenses in his own expansion, which I neutralized using this tactic with HW Guys. Voy dropped a second time in my base and was further owned.

Watch the replay for more hot, hot action. =oD
