Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Permanent rubble

I want to make the illusion of a castle wall blowing up, then have rubble over the terrain so it still looks like there is a castle there, just, er, blown up.

Of course, I could just make some building and have it blow up every minute, but it wont work too well considering I can't make rubble on the walls then. What I would really like to do is find a way to somehow pause the sprite script for small terran buildings (they seem to hide units less). I actually like the second part of the rubble better than the first, but beggars can't be choosers, and the first works just as fine.

I would like to try disable/enable the sprite but I don't quite know how to disable sprites from the unit tree (unit sprites, I can disable. I know it's kind of confusing).

I think there are a couple of sprites that you could use, not sure the names but they are there. Have fun. wink.gif

I think I would need the number of the sprites rather than the names. I should be able to call up one specific picture, rather than an actual sprite with like 100 frames.

You know those invincible bunkers, disable doodad stated ones. Well if you have a lot of those from the beginning of the game, they can be placed wherever (on a cliff or whatnot) and you can rubbles by killing them. At least I think the rubble isn't invisible. Oh well, the rubble bunkers will eventually run out, so u need to comprimise, time of rubbleness, number of units of the 1650 u want to spend. Also, you're going to need to blow it up when no one's looking, or it will look ugly.

If I wanted to blow something up, why not just make a supply depot for a computer, move it to where I want the rubble, blow it up, then rinse and repeat?

preplacing them would just add to the map limit, and there's going to be 1000 units already on this map...

Hmmm.. is the rubble a sprite or is it still a unit? This could get intersting... Ask Hemdai hey would know.... wink.gif

I bet it a sprite that automatically is removed when it's duration is up. I'll have to experiment with some of that, but for now I might have the solution.

If I use the add on construction site, and I use a bunch of them, they are all overwritten. It works out great. Almost like you are stepping through the rubble. Now I need to see if I can use this to make some walkable water too.
The only problem I have now is that I dont want this to show up until someone blows it up. Buildings are pretty much the only thing I'd be able to use, and they just go right below it. As I am writing this, however, I think about air units...

So what air units might not move much or look weird? Or what about a building that could fly. Oh wait.
And a few seconds later...

I'm still looking for some more ideas, though.
