Staredit Network -> StarForge -> Problem with unit names/misnamed triggers, etc.

angry.gif When I get to naming a unit, such as a Civ for a madness map, And then go to name a unit to spawn for someone, and give them both totally different names, the civ and the other unit, (i.e. a ling) It changes the civilian's name to the ling's name, and when I got to change the Civ's name, it either changes back to the lings's name, or the ling takes on the new name for the civilian. WTF? This problem is compounded by the fact that I need to make triggers that work with these particular names, and they don't work unless the names are correct in SF, of course.

Also, on a side note, I can't seem to get a light switch trigger to work in SF. Any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

The light switch probably is your own fault.

The string thing sounds very much like a problem with string recycling. What were the names of the two units before? Default or custom names, and if custom, which?
Have you used any other editor?

This is the first time I hear of such in SF. Looks like none of the automatic string recyclers is perfect ermm.gif
Well, lets see what's wrong at first...

I was making a map called Metal Madness!, inspired by all the band madness maps out there. I named the mass-mover civilian Mass Attack Chooser, and I named the Turret I was using for each person's base defenses Sonic Riffing, and I find later, ironically when I was making the Mass-mover triggers, that the Civ was now named Sonic Riffing.

No idea as to why. It showed up in the string list as the exact same too, colors and everything. I say"Eh, oh well, I'll fix it later." And I go to make the locations for the masser beacons, and later find out that even the Protoss and Zerg beacons were named Sonic Riffing. >.< closedeyes.gif

BTW, I looked up the tutorials on Switches and Using them for certain Actions, such as light on/off, and also looked up the tutorials on such light on/off things, and it still won't work, locations set up, and all.

Anyways, dunno if I'm allowed to attach maps or not, but here's a copy of it. The whole light switch thing has nothing to do with this map though, that was a totally different project.
