Deathawk, let's make a thread to post pics of our rigs! I need to spend about another $150 to finish my PC off though (Tuniq Tower 120, some new cabling, lights, and a new case fan).

Everything looks good, although I bet you'll wish you would have bought a dual core. Basically, all the X19xx's are pretty damn good. 1 GB should be more than enough, although Company of Heroes often uses 900MB-1.2GB of Ram itself. Are you thinking about migrating to Vista when it comes out?

I don't have a digital camera, but uhh... I can probably borrow my friends... but I wouldn't really want to take a picture of the wiremangement right now, it's pretty messy IMO.

Tuniq tower owns, btw tongue.gif

Well, actually, I did want dual core, but I didn't have enough money for a GPU with it... and I'm not using onboard graphics.
x1900GT is alright, it's around a 7900gs or so.

Eh, I don't need 2gb now. I sort of regret buying 2x512 though, isntead of just 1gb, but it's okay... this computer isn't very upgrade friendly as it is..(socket 939..) I don't plan on wasting much money on DDR memory...

Probably in a year or so, if I do. Right now, I'm not interested in Vista.

The depreciation on some of those parts makes me want to cry..

I mean it was retail but I spent $288-ish on my 4000+ sad.gif

God, I don't even want to know how "much" the E6700 is going to be worth in two years - probably like $50. sad.gif

I didn't have enough money

I'm still on Step 1 @ Newegg... sad.gif Today or tommarow I might move this Socket A computer to my older case.

Wow, can you talk about nostalgia?

I canceled the order for the stuff today, and instead I'm getting a 7900gs that is open box for the same price as the x1900gt. 7900gs = overclock more... especially with volt mods.

I don't know what you said, but it sounds like everyone who knows stuff about computers is getting an awesome computer. Congratulations..

Death, wait a week and pick up an E6300. It'll blast the A64 4000+ out of the water, and you won't be sorry for spending the little bit of extra cash.

I don't think I can do that... I already owe 36 dollars... and I already have an Arctic Freezer 64... It's too much money.. sad.gif

I'm still in Step 1... I think something is wrong... I forgot the CVV2 code I had, since I'm using somebody elses credit card... I might just have to wait to send the person the check before I actually order the parts myself...

Bleh... this sucks.. :\ A problem I'm having is that I'm using a credit card that is registered to a certain house, and I'm asking it to ship to another. I'm going to re-do the request now... see how everything goes...

I really hope everything stays at the same prices if I can't order it soon..

On the bright side, I just got 4 more Pentium 3 computers to have fun with...

I'm almost done rearranging my room. It's pretty damn sexy, let me tell you something! I'll post pictures of my godly set-up soon to make you feel better. wink.gif

FINALLY!! After the long wait, I'm finally done getting my order processed. Right now, it's on Step 3, so within 1-2 days everything should be here.

I'm getting an Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 939
Lanparty UT nf4-D
XFX 7900gs factory overclocked(plan on ocing a bunch more... and once I get 30 dollars or so, will buy the vf900 and then volt mod this baby.. maybe get 700mhz on core... it's do-able.. happy.gif)
1gb of PQI turbo ddr400 RAM- Not really the best RAM, for 95 dollars, it seemed like this was the best choice for getting a modest overclock..
Arctic Silver 5

Anyway... Once everything gets settled in, hopefully I'll have some fun tongue.gif

(Prays nothing is DOA, since I don't know how to mail stuff.. biggrin.gif)

Well, what'd you get for Christmas if you celebrate it.. tongue.gif I'm definately not made of money.

2 of the 6 things I've ordered have arrived.(I ordered a set of screws and stuff, since my motherboard is Open box.. I might need to mail DFI for an I/O plate, I hope not.

At least help me make my computer a little better
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2007-01-16 at 23:04:34
Yay, I got all the stuff and everything together... I started/finished overclocking my video card, the xfx 7900gs and got 595 core (I think 450mhz is the stock speed) and 823mhz(1646mhz effective) on the memory...(stock speed is 700 mhz, or 1400 mhz effective.) It runs at 39 idle and 67 load... both in Celcius. ATI Tool ftw tongue.gif

The computer is running well, but I didn't really back up anything so I'm back to square one getting everything sad.gif

I haven't gotten to overclocking my CPU yet, but perhaps in this week I can get to it... My ram is running 1:1 with my cpu @ 400mhz... 2-3-2-5 1t so far..

Now then... time to 3dmark this computer and then play Oblivion. tongue.gif

what is overclocking and how do you do it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2007-01-22 at 14:14:05
Overclocking is making your processor run faster than it is designed to, making it more powerful. This is dangerous if you don't have a good cooling system. Without one, your processor will overheat.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2007-01-22 at 21:58:10
I got my CPU to 3.1 ghz prime stable... but it wasn't stable in 3dmark 03... so I put it down to 2.95 ghz. RAM running at 436 2-3-3-5 5-4 divider
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Doodle77(MM) on 2007-01-22 at 22:22:38
In other news, these people had their processor running at 8Ghz stable.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Deathawk on 2007-01-23 at 07:10:44
But they had liquid nitrogen.. sad.gif and it was a Pentium 4.
