Ok, this problem really pisses me off, but whenever I try to add a file to an MPQ using WinMPQ, it says something about a 'run time error', then crashes. Anyone having the same problem?

Could you into mroe detail on the problem? And do you have all the required files needed to run WINMPQ, and if they need to be in a specific path, are they?

Ok, so I get the files required for WinMPQ and I'm good to go. I open up the BrooDat MPQ. I can extract files from it easily, but when I click on add, it comes up with what folder you would like to put it in. I type in the destination folder, then click okay. Instantly, a message comes up:

Run time error, or something like that. Then the program crashes

Are you trying to load the folders? If so, each file(.dat, .grp, etc) must be loaded seperatly and on the right header. Also, if you are trying to add something to a new MPQ, have you hit "New" and made the MPQ first?

this error is happening to me too. I'll give exact wording.

Run-time error '453':
Specified DLL function not found

OK

It appears then you are either missing a required file(DLL files are often needed as req), or you have the file, but it is misplaced and not in the intended directory.

try dragging files into the WinMPQ window.

What is the exact message it says? (every single bit of it) "Runtime error" will likely be the start of just about any error message, so it doesn't really give me anything to go by.

Perhaps try re-downloading WinMPQ Might restore the required DLL's for it to function correctly.

If that doesnt work, may i inquire, what OS (operating system) are you running on?

e.g.
Windows XP Home
Macintosh
ect ect

I did read what you posted. lol He didn't say what specific error it was, so you can't assume it was that one.

@Darkomni:
Oh, my best guess is that your Visual Basic Framework is not up-to-date. Try searching for a newer version and installing that. otherwise i suggest you use a different mpq packer.

I think it's because the Visual Basics rquired file for WinMPQ is not in the same folder as WinMPQ. Like, before I knew that WinMPQ required VB, it came up with:

A specified file, VBR004.dll was not found. When I installed VBR, it worked fine, but I put it in a different folder. The Runtime error 453 says that the specified DLL function isn't found. That means that WinMPQ might be able to use the file, but it cant use certain functions. That's just a theory, I'm going to try reinstalling WinMPQ and VBR, it might work then.
