This movie looks quite amazing. Its about a war of 300 men against a million. The 300 men come from Sparta and are known as Spartans ( supposibly the best army ever? ). Looks kind of a fiction type movie. Check out the teaser trailor.

this movie is based on an actual event: "the Battle of Thermopylae"

the actual numbers of their forces:
Greek Army:
-Spartans= 300
-Mantineans= 500
-Tegeans= 500
-Arcadian Orchomenos= 120
-Other Arcadians= 1,000
-Corinthians= 400
-Phlians= 200
-Mycenaeans= 80
-Thespians= 700
-Thebans= 400
-Phocians= 1,000
-Opuntian Locrians= All they had.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Total= around 7000
+++++++++++After Ephialtes betrayed the Greek Army= the Spartans (300) and the Thespians (700) remained to hold the pass while the others retreated =====1000

Persians= 1.8 million (only counting the infantry, cavalry, Arabs and Libyans)
-(when u add the support troops, the fleet, and Greek allies) = about 5.2 million

contrary to public opinion, the Greeks army did not only consist of the Spartans, there were many other city-states that fought along side the Spartans, however the Spartans are often seen as the heroes, when Ephialtes betrayed the Greeks, 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians all led by King Leonidas of Sparta stayed behind and fought the Persians (knowing it would mean their death), thus securing the retreat of the other Greek forces

Possibly the most famous quote associated with this battle:
a Spartan soldier, Dienekes, was informed that the Persian arrows would be so numerous as to blot out the sun, he remarked: "So much the better, we shall fight in the shade."

am i getting to "into it" ???

but yes the movie does look good
=]

Actually the movie is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller (who did Sin City), which is based on the event. So it is supposed to seem fictional.

Apparently the filmmaker was attempting to do something similar to Robert Rodriguez's adaptation of Sin City where each frame of film matches the novel. I'm hoping this is true, because the book was so awesome (as is most of Miller's work).

lol ya

Frank Miller is freakin tight

but i doubt this movie will be anything like Sin City, their completely different time periods, plus Sin City was just such a great movie, i doubt they'll be able to duplicate the effects

...but seeing the trailer, it seems to have its own great style
