I originally started working on this map for the December mapping contest, but gave up on entering after I realized the map dimensions were too big.  This is going to be a very large project, with a ton of missions and plenty of battles, upgrades and whatever else you would find in your average RPG.  This map mixes a lot of different map genres together, including Siege, RPG, and possibly Bound later on.  cool1.gif

Features


- Player Interface
Players start off inside a makeshift militia outpost in the center of the map.  From there, they will travel all over the map on various rescue missions and other miscellaneous missions which they will be sent on.  At the start of each mission, they will be given a countdown timer telling them when the next attack on the oupost will come, so they have to complete the mission and be back to the outpost quickly, or everyone dies.  Each mission, after completion, will unlock new building, upgrade and weapon options.  After the last mission there will be a long siege as a group of priests join the group and attempt to rid the planet of it's peril. biggrin.gif

- What's new in your map that others have not done before?
• My custom siege system that uses wall traps in the place of ramps.  Once the enemies kill a trap on a section of wall, a hole opens in the wall which they can get through and get inside (breaking through the wall).

• Alot of useable allied buildings that are activated by just walking up to them with a unit.

• You will be able to hijack civilian vehicles with a cool trigger system I came up with.

• The number of starting units is based on the number of people playing.

• No real items are planned so far, but you will be able to get in any "Armored Van"s and "Motorcycles" you find sitting on the streets and use them.

- Enemies
• "Dead Dog"(Zergling), "Mutant Rat"(Broodling), "Random Zombie"(Infested Kerrigan), "Black Knight"(Zealot), "???"(Archon).  These are the ones I'm using up to the first mission, many more will come as I get further.

It looks like a cool map but id reccomend fixing your extended terrain its pretty blocky...Gl on this map tho im sure it will turn out good

UPDATES:

Now discriminating between militia units and stronger soldier units that you can get later on:

Marine - Militia [AK-47]
Firebat - Militia [Propane Torch]
Ghost - Militia [Shotgun]

Raynor (Marine) - Soldier [Assault Rifle]
Gui Montag - Soldier [Flamethrower]
Hero Ghost - Soldier [Sniper Rifle]

To cut down on sprite useage, trees will be replaced with Zerg Spires and Greater Spires [Mutated Trees].

Hi there! i like it! The story looks very nice and really interestin'.

The terrain is good,especially the Mall and the Airport (last one is my favorite tongue.gif )

But this game will have somethin' about special missions,secrets,or soemthin' like that? Coz could be interestin' for get a extra life or a secret weapon for example.

UPDATE:

Trees will be going back to normal, I think. I'm just not sure how I'm gonna fill the whole map without using alot....

Looks cool, and about the trees.. perhaps the best bet is to put 2-3 per "screen". for example, when in the game, when you move your screen over a tree, you only see 2 or 3 others max. The only thing you got to do is balance the trees, putting the 1st, then 2nd, then 3rd, then 1st again..

Yeah, I still could never really make that work...

I need something to fill up space, 2-3 trees per screen just won't cut it. pinch.gif

I'll probably end up using structure terrain to fill up most of the space. I'm actually starting to lose motivation on this map, but I'd probably regain it if I had some suggestions.

Also, since I'm still planning on using the burning tree effect, could someone post a tutorial on how to make fires with cloaked bunkers, please? Thanks.

Sounds like real fun!
Except the ideas with the wall is nice.
Is this map a little GTA-Style?(with all the secrets and the vehicles)

Its kinda the opposite of RE: RC. You start holed up in your base, then expand, instead of starting expanded, then defending in the center.

"What's up" is I'm back at boarding school where I can't play on b.net. All I can do is log onto the channel on Saturday night or Sunday, and only when it's really important that I talk to someone. The only connection I can get is wireless, so I'm too slow to play any games. I already told Silent all about it, so it's all set with CheF as long as I keep doing work and stay active on SeN.

UPDATE:

Expanded the terrain in the main outpost to include a parking lot thing and a place where "rescued" buildings are given to the players for use.

Working on the Prison mission...

There will be parts where you gotta dodge a bunch of stuff to get to some place, but I haven't even planned out when or where yet.

No online tests for a while probably...

BTW, I'm also working on a mod at the same time, so this won't come out as fast as you may think. When it does, however, it will definitely satisfy people. happy.gif

At some point, I'll be using Tuxlar's "falling archon" effect that he used in his Rush trailer for some demons.

I need a good system for making the street-wandering zombies the right difficulty for the level and evenly distributed throughout the map...
