We're thinking of merging the forums in the Creative Section. This would put Art & Images, Videos and Movies, Music & Sound, Literature & Writing all into one forum. This a place to give your input on such an idea, because you, the people, are the posters in these places.
Dear Mini Moose:
Well, the subforums contain a good chunk of posts each, and the activity seems fairly consistent. As subforums, they are not taking up any room on the main page. These three factors would merit keeping them seperate for clearer organization. Afterall, many of the current titles do not reflect what subject the thread deals with. I might scale back the lock time on them, though, as you can never get enough feedback on your work.
It may make my job a lot easier, so I'm all for it.
In my opinion, none of the forums except the Arts and Images were ever active enough to warrant their own forum. I don't really see a problem with a merger, except for the large amount of stickies that there is.
The other thing is that I see subforums as killing activity. It makes people less likely to read topics if they have to go to multiple teeny forums to read them.
Sure a merge
back into 1 forum sounds like a good idea.
Seriously, they aren't really that active except the art & images where all the life goes in a few pinned topics.
Merge Videos and Movies and Music & Sound. Also, come up with some sort of system as to whether a forum gets an 'and' or and ampersand.
Yes, IF you can press a button that says something like "English and Literature" and all the other posts that would usually be in the other subforums, dissapears and you can find the posts you want to reply to.
No, if you can't make it so we can find a specific subforum (or category after the change) that will allow us to find the specific posts we are interested in.
The minuscule number of topics should make such sorting easy.
We are considering adding a topic tag feature into v5 that allows various tags to be added to topics, such as Locked, or Movies, or Bug, or something like that.

Would that mean instead of the regular green folder, blue folder, red folder sort of thing each thing could have a different icon? so like if you taged your topic as movie it would have a small movie icon and if it was locked have a small locked movie icon, or it if was music have a small musical note icon and if it was locked, a locked musical note? something like that?
Text, more likely, and of course an option to show only a certain tag of topics.
Programming has already been extradited, and the rest is all media anyway, methinks.
No.
As inactive as some of the creative forums may be, literature especially, i think it will just make things more cluttered, harder to find, and overall just messy.

OR we could replace the thread emoticons with tags.
Don't merge.
You have to remember, these are entirely different medias. You cannot simply throw music files together with picture files. They just don't mesh. Combining randpaper files like these only causes mass mayhem.
Also, even if a certain type of file is in the same section they can contrast greatly; it took a long while for me to get LW open up a "Original Artwork" in the Artwork sticky.
Organization > Simplicity.
Yes. Good idea. If you're worried about your music not being viewed, then put in the description 'song' or something. Problem solved, and a lot easier to navigate.

Awesome suggestion, I've always thought the post icon tab should be removed but what you suggest is better.
I think you should leave them as it is. If your looking for art, you'd look in the Arts and Images section, right? Well if you would merge them, you would have trouble searching for art topics if music, sounds, videos, etc are all in one forum. It will be harder to search for something if they are all merged. Even if we have a search function.
I think I settled on a decision...
You'll see it sooner or later... if we don't like it, we might bring this up again or another proposal.
