So who all has read up on the live-action Warcraft movie that Blizzard is planning to make with Legendary Pictures? If they can pull it off, I think it will be fantastic - especially if Peter Jackson directs it, as some rumors suggest.
Based on the magazine The Hollywood Reporter, the Warcraft film will not be based on any game in particular, but will take place in the Warcraft universe. Sounds nifty.

Oh I know its old, I just figured I'd make a thread about it asking what you guys thought - perhaps to build some hype. 
And its funny you mention Halo because for some reason I have little faith in it. Its kind of ironic that Peter Jackson was said to be affiliated with that one as well. Maybe he's going to go through a video game movie phase.

I will boycott anything having to do with Warcraft. That is until they get back into focusing in the starcraft world

i'm surprised their focusing so much on warcraft...

I heard that starcraft started off as a joke. As for warcraft movie..I'm not watching it only cuz I've missed out on a lot of their recent games..and i don't like it.

Yay, a warcraft movie. If it's well directed, it will be awesome. Warcraft is a very well designed fantasy world, better than most others out there.

Halo could be like Starship Troopers, except good.
WoW has made so much more money than StarCraft - you really have no idea. It rakes in at least $125 million a month. That's about $1.5 billion a year. I doubt EA pulls in that much a year off of their many, many franchises. Blizzard has made one real game in the past couple of years, and they have to be swimming in money right now. If only Lord of the Rings Online had come out before World of WarCraft! Oh, so back to the movie.
I sincerely doubt Blizzard will let it be bad. They will scrap it like they scrapped Ghost before releasing a bad product because they certainly have a certain rep for solid releases. However, how is the WarCraft world a good fantasy world? I've seen a load of them myself, and my favorite is still A Song of Ice and Fire. WarCraft just isn't... epic enough. Oh, by the way, Ice and Fire is coming to HBO via a full fledged series! I may very well have to subscribe to HBO to watch that!

The Warcraft world is good because it seems more living than most fantasy worlds out there. Since people have the possibility to play as both the Horde and the Alliance., Azeroth is kind of divided in the good and the good. You can't really call the Orcs brutal when you see what the humans do to them, and vice versa.
I don't think this movie will be any good though, game movies usually aren't.

I could just see them mimicing orc suits from lord of the rings and just making it some cheesy lame movie.
