  • They both have tabs
  • They both have what made them popular
And the better one is _____________, because ______________.

BTW, I am asking for the better of these two.

FireFox is open source, more secure than Internet Explorer, and as far as I know doesn't crash as much. I think it wins.

IE7 is a lame copy of some FF2 features, and some extra useless features. FF2 works better and uses less ram than IE7. Also, and most importantly, FF2 works on Linux natively(Though, i can use the IE7 engine with a IE6 window with Wine). And... i hate the IE7 interface, though i love the FF2 interface.
And last but not least, Firefox has way a lot of extensions, and a lot of them are quite useful for many people, i just need the Gmail one, though.

Thats like saying "I vote for Bush because I forgot the other guys name!!1". You shouldn't vote in the first place because you haven't taken the time to compare them.

FF2. I haven't played Final Fantasy 2 yet, but it's probably better than IE.

I have played it, and i can assure you it's better than IE. Of course if you are talking about internet browsers you may actually want something like FireFox 2(or 1, both are g00d)...

You know, tabs aren't the real matter, they do help a lot, but the real matter is overall quality, Firefox isn't just tabs, if it was you would just have to install some toolbar on IE and that's it, Firefox is better overall, and it works on various platforms.

IE is just popular because Windows is, most people just don't know what the heck Firefox is, or just don't want to install it because of fear. Firefox is popular because it's a quality product, and it's free(Yes, as in beer, common users give a f**k if they can look at the source code or not, though it is better that it is free as in freedom too).

Couldn't an open source browser lead to an easier search for security holes or whatever everyone cries about? Or is the purpose to have the user fill them?

You must have what it takes to be a smart person on here. smartass.gif

The big problem with Microsoft is that their patches normally don't fix things ASAP.
Microsoft may even know they have a hole in security even months before its patch.

Firefox FTW!

I've never had IE7 crash one me. I don't use Fx, so I don't know about that. Besides, you can't tell me one is more secure than the other until you know of all the security holes for each one. And if you really want security, get antivirus programs.

They both only require 64MB of RAM. Fx recomends 265MB, while MS has no recomended size. And interface is just a matter of opinion.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about. IE7, unlike IE6 which we aren't talking about, supports tabs.

Oh, and Fx is also less cluttured. My family use IE7 and there's 300000000 toolbars on it, whereas Fx has none. I even removed the bookmark bar.

Yeah, not including the menu bar. You have to find the option to turn it on first. huh.gif

I was happier when I had IE6, because so many features have changed between IE6 and IE7 that you have to use the "Internet Explorer Tour" to find them all. And for some reason, whenever I click the scroll wheel once in IE7, the page keeps on scrolling until it hits the bottom (or top, whatever).

Also, I've never noticed the difference between IE and FX, apart from they look a bit different. IE6 has never crashed on me, and I don't really care if some pages load a bit faster in one browser or the other.

I used to use IE7. Then my dad got me Firefox about a year ago. So I thought "Firefox owns!". But Firefox doesn't seem to work on my new computer, so I have to use Opera, which still kicks IE in the butt.

Read the whole post :/ Not to mention that the tab bar is FREAKING HUGE!

Well, I could make Fx have 34328923023 toolbars(or 7, maybe tongue.gif) but it doesn't mean it's a bad browser:P

And the Fx navigation bar is much bigger than both IE7 and Opera's :\
