I'm wondering how many units in devourers and zerglings, would be used to make up the above grids. Oh, and the zerglings would be if a zealot sized unit was standing in the middle of them. (and don't make fun of me if it turns out devourers take up one square each, I think I saw it somewhere, but I can't remember exactly.

yeah devourers take up 1 square each, so you can make the grid that way

What I had explained to lord omega in the post he referred to was using mobile grids (as much as I dislike that term..) to move locations to the left, up, down, and right of a unit. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking for right now.

If you're asking how many units just to completely fill those specified areas, I doubt anyone would know that off the top of their head. Just do some test runs with making different terrain for different sizes of locations you want, and different triggers you can run to create different amounts of units and remove them.
