Lower compression = higher sound quality and slower dl
Higher Compression = lower sound quality and faster dl

I recommend the highest possible compression possible for battle.net and multiplayer maps; compression in single player maps are optional.

Actually, I haven't tried this, but I think too much compression makes the sound sound terrible. Either that or half of the crappy maps on b.net had someone sitting in front of their TV with a cruddy voice recorder.

I think the second choice is most likely.

If you want your sounds to sound good, just set them to 11.025khz 16-bit Mono for mulitplayer battle.net maps or 22.050khz 16-bit Mono for singleplayer maps. Then just import the sounds using the default setting (Highest, least space). The sounds should sound just fine and should not take up much space at all.

(BTW, if your friend says that lower compression = faster dl, do the exact OPPOSITE of what they say for any situation) laugh.gif

Import the wav into your sound recorder and edit it there.

One thing I can't figure out is is there any difference between how Sound Recorder converts qualities and how Creative Wave Studio converts qualities?

Here's a good sound editing program, I haven't really figured out how to use it to change the quality though, I do that in another program.

Here's Audacity
For the compression, I use Creative Wave Studio, which is not available for download, if you install any of Creative's Sound Blaster products, it asks you to insall Creative Wave Studio.
