Hi there! well i've voted yah.

I think that a map whit secrets, bonus, extras and all these is always more interestin' and funny (its' only my opinion).

But,all depends of you...If you want put it ill be agree whit u about the secrets happy.gif

Or if not, make two versions, one whitout secrets and other whit them.A real easy solution.

See you!

Unless this thread is a placeholder for the official map (and it should have some indication of progress with it) I'll just stick this in Assistance for now. You'll have to add some content first for it to be a production thread. PM me if you want it moved back when you do.

This is hardly Assistance. Such a small poll about you making a map would simply belong in Null. Assistance is for technical help in map making like triggers or trigger systems.

The map should have secrets only if:

•the secrets are at least hard to get or
•they are explained extremely vaguely or not at all
•they do not unbalance the game mechanics of the map (if they do, make it next to impossible to get)
•they are not required to beat the map

If the secrets meet these requirements, then make as many as you'd like.

I've used Assistance for non-technical help before. Asking about whether a map feature should be included or not classifies as a help request I would think.

My two cents:

Actually, I would find a topic like this more suitable in the Ideas forum, than in the Polling Booth or the UMS Assistance forums, as this topic is about whether or not the idea of having secrets in the topic creator's map is desirable or not.

UMS Assistance is for technical help and minutely brief discussions and explanations of certain concepts related to mapping, not for asking public for or about their ideas; polling booth is more directed to more general concepts (i.e., if he was talking about secrets in games in general).

Add secrets, but don't make them interact in the game in any way. By this, I mean that you might find another secret character, but don't make that character help the main characters. Another thing would be to not have extra weapons or money secrets. They make the game rigged.
Also, they should be hard to find.

Trust me, the secrets are hard to find. 1 of the secrets can only be found by 1 unit only witch I wont tell.

If it's a multiplayer map you almost never want to add gameplay affecting secrets. If even one person finds them you can count on them to share their secret, and boom it now becomes officially part of the gameplay. Excluding those who haven't found it, at least (who become disadvantaged until they do).

lol ya but, I bet you that the 1 secret whats the most secretive of all will never be found in 1 week. Even maybe 2 but i made sure that the secrets are very hard to find... Unless you cheat on Gamefaqs.com and you look at the faqs.

If it's a competitive game in any way at all, no secrets (even heroes leveling seperately counts as being competitive). Otherwise, secrets.

If it exists, it'll be found. Why do you think Blizzard has released so many patches for Starcraft over the years?

Because they know we cling onto it as a great RTS game and would hate to lose our money when SC2 comes out. Oh wait, you mean in reference to exploits...

Well, how about you make it so that once you beat the game. You get a code and then, in the beginning of the game it asks you to put in the code to get secret ending/weapons etc. (not sure if this idea was already mentioned)

Not really. The point I'm trying to make people do is search like hell.
