Staredit Network -> StarCraft Editing Related -> Patience the Key to Mapmaking

i know how to blend, i know how to make my map look good, i know how to make effects, i know how to overlap text, i know almost everything about triggers, and a good amount of the basis of EUDs, but the one thing i don't have is Patience. One screw up and i get bored of it, one day i decide to work on it and instead i jack off the whole time...

so why is missing one freaking mapmaking trait enough to make me suck at mapmaking...?

anyone know any ways to get me motivated, and perhaps finish a map =/

You could try not thinking about what you'll have as a finished project, and simply think about what you could make. Once you turn making triggers into more fun then playing the map, you won't want to stop!

I don't know if thats possible...

Just tell your self to stick with the map until the end, then do it.

I think if you can get a friend to play test the map with you every time you get bored of making it you can have fun while creating it and be inspired to do more. It's worth a try eh?

Its not lack of motivation most people feel, its really lack of direction. If you take the time to clearly outline everything you want to put in your map it makes it clear what you need to accomplish and provides you with a direction every time you go to work on it.

Besides, we have this thread.
