Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Computer AI builds but never attacks

hello all..

i'm trying to create a 2human vs 6computers team map by editing the avaliable map.

the in game Top v Bottom, etc.. options never seems to put me and my buddy together whenever we play team games. so i'm editing the maps manually for location placing and playing under UMS.

1- humans are user selectables
2- already set races for all computer players
3- the game dont automatically give the computer players a base and starting units. so i placed a base and 4 resource collectors for each
4- created locations for all players encompassing each players resources and base and units
5- added "Execute AI Script 'race1 custom level' at 'player1 start location'" for each of the computer players.
5- Force1 consist of 2 humans players. Force2 consists of all Computer players.

Tested it out a few times. The computer AI builds bases and units fine enough but they never attack on their own pretext. They purely and only defend. =(

I'm sure theres something wrong somewhere... any advice would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

or someone could tell me how to edit a normal melee map such that i can Team play with my buddy and not end up at the farcorners of the map.

That is wierd how they don't attack. Firstly, since you're preplacing the bases, you have to make sure that in the player settings each computer is the appropriate race. For instance, if player 5 thinks its Zerg, but it has terran buildings, it won't work right.

Make sure they're unallied with you.

I've only had experience with campaigns, but if you give them a certain AI script from the campaigns (easy, medium, difficult, insane), then they should work just fine so long as they have some starting buildings and resources. Just be ready for a fight if you make them "insane". ;p

If you would post the map you're making, we could take a look at it and get a better idea.

here is the weird map. its kinda noobish.. cos i was trying things out. i'm new to this thing. well... at least i got it this far.. haha..

its really odd tho. i waited and waited and waited. they even got ultralisk and guardians. never came for me.

AI is correct for their type. I'm using Custom Level AI. keeping it compatible for Starcraft not broodwars cos of some lazy friends. haha..

i edited another ready map The Hunters. did the same thing. same steps. this time round they worked right.

what gives?

Thanks smile.gif

Use the 'Value this area higher' AI, and all the other AI's used in basic cat n mouse games, and just wait for a little while before executing them.

Check a cat n mouse crystal warz game, to find out how they did it. Then simply implement it into your map, but make it so that you wait a certain amount of time before you use the AI script. that way the comp has time to build up.

Run AI Script at Location to use a value area higher part. Did you check to make sure they were unallied to you?
