Pop-Up-D
You basically mind control a few burrowed zeglings to create a path that units will walk through. I am attempting to use around 30-40 possible units able to be used. Other than that, it's your basic defense.
Progress
-Ideas•Pretty much done with the basics. I am going to try to implement special units, not sure how at the moment cause I am reaching the unit max.
-Terrain•Completed....may add a few touch ups before release
-Unit placement•Completed
-Triggers•The mechanics of the game work for Player 1 only. No levels have been set but you can get in the game (as player 1) and build towers and try out the defilers dark swarm ability. The general idea behind using dark swarm is to target a unit that you messed up on. So if you acidentally wall, you can kill it with a dark swarm. Just don't shoot your Dark Archon
Specifications
-Players•1-4 Players. The game will change depending on the number of players in the game. For example, you start out with a small path to work with. If the player beside you looses, you inherit all of their 'towers' and enemy units walk from one side to the complete other instead of dying in the middle.
-Map tileset•Desert
-Map size•96x96
Storyline / Introduction
Sytell corporation has been an unknown powerful entity until recently. You and your allies homeworld HQ have just deciphered a message that was meant for someone else. Who it was meant for is still unknown. What is known is that Sytell is preparing for a full scale invasion to your homeworld. It's up to you and your allies to stop the supply line of forces before it's too late.
Sytell forces strike quickly and most times without warning. Their supply line of forces is going to make a b-line dash for the first of several portals. These portals warp their forces to unknown strategic worlds surrounding your homeworld. Sytell isn't to concerned about fighting until they reach their destination. You will notice that most of them will not even put up a fight to reach their final destination.
The leader of Sytell has given his troops a bit of protection from the resistance. He has created an invisible barrier that freezes your troops in place and prevent any unit from simple just walking or flying to or near a portal. For this reason, troops must be warped in. By reworking the design of the Arbiters Recall ability, your forces are able to be teleported in. But thats only half the battle because none of your forces will be able to take 1 step. Their are only 2 beings that are able to resist this invisible barrier, the Dark Archon and the Defiler.
Features
- Mind control burrowed lings to 'pop-up' a unit
- 30+ different units to choose from
- Gameplay changes based on how many players are in the game.
- Ability to remove units that were accidentally placed.
- Design the path you want the enemy units to follow.
- More to come...
-Player InterfaceBy using a dropship/overlord/shuttle to select which units they want. Then use the Dark Archon to mind control burrowed lings to create a path for the enemy units.
-What's new in your map that others have not done before?•As far as I know, making a path with units that can't move. Also, allowing the most amount of flexibility with the types of units you can choose.
Details
-Characters•No Character names choosen yet, everything (even the storyline) is in the air.
-Weapons•Mind Control....also may do something with the dark swarm firing system.
-Spells•I have been thinking about this for a while. But do to the way I have the map set up, I don't see any spells in the forseeable future.
Screenshots / Demo
Eye candy.Demo is attached but it only works for Player 1. Not much to it but at least you can get a general idea.
