I believe that is the title of an act that states the government has a right to go over any of your records (including library records) to see if you have been involved in any terrorist activities. I'm not very familiar with this act, so if you have any information it would be helpful (any information I have been given has been obviously one sided)
also, do you believe this act is democratic?
Im not really sure what your talking about, but i think the government should have the right to look at any records their citizens have. If they cant view your records its like hiding things from the government and that just dosent work.
Did you try searching the internet for information?
the internet is too biased to find any information, especially with the upcoming election, and most of the school rescources are outdated
yeaH. there is just too much stuff on the internet to find what you want.
How did you find out about this at all? Are you sure its accurate?
It seems like a good idea to me, letting the government review personal records.

YEA! Let's let the cops tap our phone lines and see our credit card numbers. What a lovely good idea. Lets welcome them into our homes without a search warrant. Whatever happend to the nice little thing called the
BILL OF RIGHTS???

I agree with you, they should not be able to see the records without a search warrant.

Thats becouse the whole thing is about violation of privacy. Have you ever read the thing? Its total bull

. Do you realise that if they wanted to the government could just go into your house,
rape your dog , and then just say that they did it because they thought you could have been a terrorist?

I've been weeping for our nation ever since Bush was elected...
Patriot Act = Teh Suxx0rz.
Glad thing I don't live in america, long live Canada and it's public health care.
Seriously, right now you Canadians are lucky... Hopefully in 2 1/2 more months we will break free from the tyranny
Wow. I can't believe someone was unaware of THE PATRIOT ACT, one of the most ridiculous "amendments" in at least thirty years. It not only allows police to search without a warrant, read private mail, and look at library records, it also allows them to tap public and private phone lines, monitor internet usage, and make unreasonable ARREST of civilians with little more than a hunch as evidence.
You may be interested to know some near synonyms of the activities I just listed.
Reading of private mail -Mail Fraud
Monitoring of phone lines -Eavesdropping
Monitoring internet usage without consent -Hacking (similar to spyware.)
Search and seizure lacking warrant -Looting
Arrest without just cause -Kidnapping
Is this the role of government? I thought it was to prevent these things...
Also, the Patriot Act has yet to produce any tangible results; Not a single terrorist has been arrested, and no terrorist plans have been discovered as a result of it.

FBI reading my posts at SEN.. Oh great they track my Ip and come and get me. Ohhh NOOO!
Under the Patriot Act it's perfectly legal for them to arrest and interrogate you for saying that. Sucks, huh?
What I don't get is why it was called the Patriot Act. It should have been called the Increased Safety Act or something. By naming it the Patriot Act, the Bush administration made it seem that if a congressman or congresswoman didn't vote for it then they would be unAmerican (a position most voters would deplore). They had to vote for it to keep their jobs.
I don't know whether I'd be pissed or honored that they thought a junior girl was a big enough threat to arrest her.
I wonder what their view on socialism is...

Because it was a name they could make the half-scared nitwits in the legislature pass.
I think it's fair but they have to have some reason to suspect you as a terrorist because just randomly searching houses would be gay.

The funny thing is that the Patriot Act gives them the power to do just that. That thing i said about raping your dog was in no way an exageration. I doubt that they would actually just go around violations peoples furry friends but the fact that they could is just scary.
I think it's sorta messed up but they probably have a reason for it I mean if it were really a terrorist it would be good to have it.
I'm not too sure what your talking about.....
Ummm i dont think they can do that in Canada maybe in the states but not in Canada

if a terrosit knows they can do that, they wont do anything that would draw attention to themselves, therefore, its useless
