As as some of you know, I reinstalled my whole PC and I lost everything.
Now as I try to install Starcraft againg I get these problems.
I set the Directory as C:\ProgramFiles\Starcraft
It then says that it's to long and it suggests C:\Starcraft
When I set C:\Starcraft it then freezes for like 5 seconds and it closes. The send error to Microsoft menu appears.
It's done it 3 times.
Is my OPSystem(Win XP Pro, with 100% upgrades and some custom upg) too advanced for Starcraft that it can't install it or properly read it...?

How could that be too long? Its supposed to almost always install under C:\Program Files\Starcraft; I tried putting it on another drive, but it insists on working only when its intially installed in C:.

Im not quite sure but when dealing with programss or games that are older than the OS try installing then on the naked OS. Meaning without the upgrades.
Lol Keg try making it C:\Program Files\SC
it still does the same thing with
C:\ProgramFiles\SC
C:\SC
Sure you dont need a space in that ProgramFiles?
Nah thats not it, I tried it both ways and still no go.
I actually thought that was the problem for a sec...
this is how i got mine to work:
- Install It on a Machine You Know it will install on
- Then Transfer All The Files To Your New Comp
But I had A comp With Me and xp On So I had it easy

so i didnt need to dl a large file (Good Idea Is To Zip It)
Hmmm, my soloution is - reformat!
Damn this is getting frustrating...
I can't install it on another PC because I don't have another one
I reformated, see my first post, I installed a new OP System so I lost everything. My PC is like new it has no programs. So basicly there is nothing to reformat...
Did you look at the CD to see some marks? Or you mine need to check your computer to see if anything is damaged. Or you can just ask a friend if you can burrow his Starcraft CD then install by using YOUR CD KEY not his. If you his then both of you will be muted.
First, I would do as he said and check the CD. Clean it. Next, I would send the error report to Microsoft. I did that once when my StarCraft crashed and I got auto-linked to a driver update... now I crash, but less.

Hmm, well, there's no error message?
Well, I guess one problem could be that you don't have the required driver udates, see if any can be uddated. You can always look at
http://www.driverguide.com for one.
Also check to see you have the latest DirectX update, SC uses DirectDraw, so you'll need it. Also, does this happen with any other games. Try installing Diablo2, see if it says anything about no supported video modes.
I sent the error message 3 times to Microsoft
It installed perfectly in my friend's PC, so I put all the Installed Files on a CD and I uploaded them on my PC but it dosen't work, it has to be installed, since the installation has my friends PC data and stuff.
I got everything updated to the max.
On The CD Move The Files To Your Hard Drive If That Dosent Work Then I Have No Ideas

Did you get the registry keys too?
About the error to Microsoft, I sent it, it later said I sent it and then nothing happened.
What registry keys? I forget...
Uhh, go to Start>Run>Regedit
You gotta find the keys that apply to SC, and copy them, they help with like, last played map, last B.Net username, instyall directory, if its actually installed. That kinda stuff. I'll see if I can find most of em.
EDIT: I did a quick look, and these are what I found. I check for other ones later.

Actually, you just don't want to mess with the ones in the system categories. I mess with mine all the time

Well, if you move all the StarCraft files you can get a no-cd crack and I think it comes with registry key.....
Its Not The CD-rom theres probobly a conflict with xp

It it really is up-to-date, then you should have XP Service Pack 2, right? There's your problem. Service Pack 2 is interfering with Starcraft.
