Staredit Network -> UMS Showcase -> Idea: Be A Wolf

So i have this crazy idea for a map where you play a wolf. You can choose to be a Hunter/uh... give me ideas.
So you can hunt out in the open to kill animals and take meat to your den, then you would distribute it to players. In this your gonna need to eat meat and drink water to stay alive. If you eat to much you would be Encumbered (slowed) for about a day, 12 minutes. So give me suggestions to add to this, im thinking about moves in abilitys like jumping, targeted by an observer. Jumping further could be determined by training, givin to you by experienced wolves or using the skill often. The experinced wolves could give you a quest that would level the skill of your choice, such as "Critical Swipe" or "Jump"

Done 1% working on concept... Mainly need ideas for skills and such.

That doesn't sound bad. What would the goal be?

The sad thing: No goal, when you finish all the quests i will make it give you random stuff like kill 50 enemy wolves/animals.

Edit: This map would NOT appeal to the mindless hordes on b.net, it would be more of the game you play with 3-4 of your friends cuse those mindless hordes generally dont want to spend time working up a perfect character.

you should make a goal and make it into a wolf rpg

well ok, when you finish all the quests you get a special quest or somthing, then when you beat it and it gives your a selector you can use to win the game whenever your done. Happy now?

how about a "duel" between two players?

Its Kinda Sounds Like That Dragon RPG That takes for ever to get into the swing

Make it so that your pack's den has been taken over by a clan of humans. You fall down a cliff while escaping, and have to find your way back. Along the way you have to hunt to survive, drink water, and become strong enough to eventually beat the humans. There can be all sorts of enemies like bears, rabbits, and maybe even rogue wolves. You could make it take place over the course of a year. Or perhaps every 10 minutes could be part of the life cycle of a wolf... If you die during the 10 minutes you are reborn as a pup, and if you are still alive you become an older wolf. Depending on your age you receive different bonuses from upgrades and such. If you get too old you get weaker, and eventually die of old age and have to start over as a pup again. That way you would have to time your attacks on, say, human outposts or other wolf packs properly, and make sure that you're the proper age.

It sounds like so much fun to make that I might actually use this idea, if you don't mind.

... Acually i do mind, but i would like help. smile.gif I dought i will use the aging but maybe... nah that would totally get rid of my skill system. Hmm... i really think the dragon rpg is cruddy, im trying to avoid it completely.
How is it like the dragon RPG?

I think I want to do the aging thing, so don't mind me. If I do make this map it will be totally different from yours. Maybe I'll make it about sabre-toothed tigers or wolverines or badgers or something to avoid comparisons.

Have it be, at first, before anyone does anything, you have all skills and such at max, and you all have to duel.
This determines who the "leader" is.
The leader gets to overcommand anything anyone else says, and if anyone dissobeys they have to fight the leader.
If they win, they become the new leader.
They can also challenge the leader at any other time if they wish.

I think that would make it better, and I also think you should make it a team game, like have your own "AI" that makes animals scared when they see moret han 2 of you, and only fight if cornered, so that you can like have an ambush and such, to add to realism.

EDIT: BTW the reaosn I said you should have the duel take place with all skills, is so that instead of just being a luck battle where the ppl just attack each other, you actualy have to use the skills and such, otherwise you'll get creamed.

And it would be mroe realistic in the fashion that the newbs would probably get owned by the masters, who could be termed as being more like an elder in a wolf pack, because they've been playing longer.

Well, first you decide where possible locations for the deer should be, then setup triggers that cycle it.
Have a location, adn whenever the pack brings a unit there, it orders the deer to another location, depending on where exactly the wolf was.

This is what I was afraid of. This is a great map idea but the person who thought of it is a beginner.

I wish you luck figuring out all this stuff. Such a map would be complicated.
