The first map was pretty good I'll be looking forward to the whole thing.

That was good, I liked the scanning thing, well now I'm waiting for the rest of it, hope you finish it quick.

Glad you guys liked it. I'll take any suggestions for future maps.

1. Maybe you should have the screen automatically center move with April.
2. The dingo's didn't attack me when I shot at them.
3. The pervert marine took like 10 seconds after I finished talking to him to become uninvincible.
4. Maybe you should have a water/hydration meter, that decreases as you walk, because I often found myself in dead ends.

Good map, not aimed at the usual carnage and blood type players.

1. That is not a good idea because every time the screen centers the mouse centers with it, so it would be hard to move.
2. Blame it on Starcraft's AI.
3. Weird, he usually attacks me right after talking.
4. Can you explain this a bit more? I mean, how does that relate to dead ends?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by mobomojo on 2004-08-23 at 18:46:22
4. I suppose having it like stamina makes you more aware of your movements, and youll suffer by running into dead ends.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by phatdiddy on 2004-08-23 at 20:14:15
If you did that I would of died at first since the first thing I did was go left, in other words the wrong way. But it's still a good idea, only problem is for that map you'd just be limiting it to a certain amount of steps sicne the only place to get water is that water hole. Unless of course you count the rest houses.

1. When played on Battle.Net Single Player, the mouse doesn't center with it. And offline, it won't center at all.
2. Change the Starcraft AI
3. Hmm... Maybe my bad.
4. Well you could make it so you start to slow down with less and less water, and when you hit 0 water you die. That way you have to use your mind and sense of direction to find things.

One more thing, I suggest quiet ambient background music, It'll add to the mood, and you could always mute the unit speech of Kerrigan, because I found that kinda annoying.

Did you test this? It always centers the mouse for me.

I only know how to slow down units to a certain speed, therefore you can't have different speeds for different water levels without a mod.

That would work in real life, but there is no sense of direction when you're playing a game (map) for the first time.

I probably won't re-release the first mission, and I decided against background music because of file size.

Turn it off in your options. That's what I did.

Yes, I did test this.

You can slow down units quite easily, without a mod. Look for it at the tutorial section.

Well, I often got into dead ends because I figured a certain route would lead to the water/vehicle.

You can use these suggestions for the next missions. And file size shouldn't be an issue, as it is a one player campaign.

The average player won't bother to turn it off in options. Just mute it.

Nice map can't wait for the rest of them.

But like I said, it's only one speed. You can't have it kind of slow, slow, very slow, etc.

It is an issue to someone on 56k. Heck, some people might not even bother downloading when they see it's 3 mb or something (a lot more if you want good quality music).

The average player doesn't care about it.

True that. This comp is running off 56k, and Ill only bother with maps up to 1mb and some. 3mb and up, Ill get if it gets good reviews and such. But you can always make one with music, and later on, take out the major sounds and release it as a 'lite version'.

Alright I guess it's fine then, but it IS POSSIBLE to get semi-slow, slow, and really slow. Just play Tux's Firefighter map. All you have to do is place wait actions in the trigger. (I think)

Not a bad map, I liked it.

The second mission is released.

Mission 2: Pit Stop

These first two may be a bit short, but I wanted to make the player get a feel for the campaign. The third map will be large and take a while to complete. I'm also working on a Battle.net map, so the third map will hopefully come out within a week. Enjoy.

The pitstop was alright....but like you said it was short
Report, edit, etc...Posted by mobomojo on 2004-08-24 at 21:25:48
first map was decentish; i liked how it had a bit more dialogue than other maps, and it uses the pause function, another feature i dont see too much nowadays.

as for your campaign, i think you should release them maybe two at a time or something, and then when you get down to your last three or so maps (the more climatic ones), you should release them all as the whole campaign.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2004-08-24 at 21:33:56
short, easy, and simple, but you did it well nonetheless
Report, edit, etc...Posted by P-OnMeToWin on 2004-08-24 at 21:35:22
By the way, if you explore the pit stop it will add a few minutes to your game. There is some guy practicing his shooting, a scout, etc.

You know what would be awesome?! If there was a FF7 game with a "World" map, and you could go to all the different locations like Midgar and wow... I can't remember any other places, it's been THAT long. I was just thinking about what you said, P-OnMetoWin. It could be a campaign : ) A massive project undoubtedly, but wouldn't that be awesome?
