I just finished the skeleton of my Junkyard Warfare map. Every time you die, you respawn in a random location with a random unit:

1. Ghost
2. Marine
3. Vulture
4. Goliath
5. Firebat

Ghost beats vulture/goliath with lockdown, marine beats ghost, goliath and vulture beats marine, and firebat is all-around.

(These units have different names, by the way)

The point of the map is to have the most kills or the highest kill score in 15 minutes. I spent a while designing the junkyard, and it includes traps. This is what I'm looking for in this thread:

1. Report any bugs. There shouldn't be any, but testing winning was hard, so that's the main thing you want to look for.
2. Suggestions. Right now, you just kill eachother. I am planning to add special attacks, and if your suggestion is good I will put it in.

Thanks for your time.

Oh wow, thanks for the tip.

I think he meant it literally

Doesn't sound like it, mainly because that little piece of advice really doesn't help because units are random.

That was actually a decent map, had an interesting setting, all I can say is gj, ps that trap near the door saved me woot!

Pretty interesting. Id like to see this expanded a bit more; not in size, but in gameplay.

That's part of the reason why I made this thread. I have some ideas of my own but feel free to share yours.

Actually, the Firebat wouldn't be all round, since they are weak against Armour units, such as your Vulture.

But they have a LOT more hitpoints.

And that somehow makes it work all round, because they are strictly speaking effective against all ground units...reduced damage then? Armour is useful for them.

Here is a new version.

Included:
-You can capture beacons. Capture three and you can choose a new unit in the junkyard. You will only have this unit until you die, after which you can try to capture three beacons again.

The new units are fighter (wraith) and tank (siege tank).

Air units usually give an advantage... But anyways, I didn't like how we all spawn at the same spots when we start the game.

It's either that or adding longer waits so the things get randomized. They do get partially randomized as you can see the higher players get different locations than the lower ones. Would more waiting time be okay?

Well, that would be nicer than some strange trickle effect of the spawns/points we get in the begining. Hyper triggers maybe?

you could do some hero unit that gives you advantages, or maybe a hero purchase center

That's basically what the special units are.

Add items like a Missile: (an observer as a target and a scourge or nuclear missile flies to the location and explodes), Invulnerability: (Hyper heal for a certain amount of time), and quicksand: (hyper: create a burrowed unit under each player except youself and removes it)

quick questions, does the map work on the original SC and can you play it in single player mode or is it only for battle.net?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by .Coko[CK] on 2004-09-05 at 16:29:38
I doubt it will work on Original Starcraft, because all you need is a few modifications and it will not work on it. Playable off the net? Its for human players, likely only on the Net will it work, or on LAN games.
