Anyone know the number?
I think it might be 255 since you have about 700 units.
No... definitely not that. There's at least 1000 peons and they're ALL mining, returning cargo, as well as being cloaked, I'm issuing orders to my units(I'm blue), teal who left before(we loaded a saved game) has a bunch of drones, MrrLL(orange) also has 200 drones. He was also ordering a bunch of units around.
Food:
Protoss 549/128
Terran 197/200
You have 748 units.
Are all of them peons?
IS the unit limit for all 8 players or one limit per player.
hoLy crap wtfage
...i don't get it. all those auto commands blocked up your command list LOOLLOOLLOLO
I edited my post.. Oh btw we maxed the map to 1700 units too.
Then it must be about 1024.
Shall we look at this through Coding Programmer Ideas? What would be it be Long Integer? Short Integer, or plain Integer? That would then be it wouldn't it...I think it can't be Long...thats about 60,000...so Short?
Wow! I wonder what the mining train looks like...
Truly restriction for less lag...
I'd like to point out peons can also hit the sprite limit if you have a huge number (like in pic) mining at a far away location, because so many are carrying resources back and the carried resources apparently are not a seperate unit for the 1700 units max, but are a seperate sprite (so they can rotate with the peon I guess)
I did it by having a friend with Zerg filling overlords with drones and MCing them, but I guess whatever works
I had about 700 drones at one point and the buttons stopped working! You couldn't attack because that would need a button to animate pressing down, and you couldn't select units because the mouse would only be a green arrow
Also people, he only has protoss and terran supply but there are drones too. Thus the large number.
Yea, Stereo. I made a map so we could do this kinda thing. Sometimes the units can even walk inside of buildings without getting pushed off.
This is odd, I tried it in single player and it just cancelled the orders of other peons as soon as they arrived at the command centre, and
then told the new units to mine. They just sat there until then. This only happened at 1024 I assume,
It doesn't do that in multiplayer... Wanna find out? USEast: Deathknight2004
Odd, mine says "Unable to add order." when I tell too many units to mine. It also seems to only apply to a specific order ("Gather"). The ones "returning" minerals don't seem to count to it.
In multiplayer of course. I had about 1400 probes before I noticed cause I made them walk a large distance.. so that it took about 800 to create a constant stream.
HOLY!!!!!! So many miners lol I even tried counting...although I couldn't keep track cus they all look the same...But who knew there was an order limit.
Well this is most interesting, we must remember not to build 1500 probes in the future then! Still interesting find, have you seen the effects of having over 100 Valks? Make an Invic Target, maybe something with 0/1 health in hte air, and watch them...
Another fun thing you can do is create a huge mass of arbiters and tell them to run the AI script recall at a location that's centered on a player unit, then walk the player unit under the arbiters. They recall each other all over the place, and if they're owned by a computer they then fly back to where they were recalled or something.
Yeah, that is fun, when they start running all around the map, try doing it to masses of Intoceptors and carriers, having it randomly recall set locations...
Lol imagine thousands of interceptors following one single unit....like a swarm of bees
You could do that without recall via. generic target AI and that other one that I forget at the moment. Beehive effect, anyone?
It would be hard to have thousands, since each Carrier can handle a maximum of 8 and they disappear after a while if their carrier goes...
