Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Making an Anaconda(snake)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Carnorus on 2004-09-02 at 23:30:31
I saw the movie and I fell in love biggrin.gif

I was htinking the Reaver would make a good Anaconda, would it be possible to make say 5 Reavers head-to-toe and make them stay like that, and only the one at the top fires?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance

Trigger... (Note: COMPLEX (to you anyway tongue.gif).)
1. Center Location 1 on Reaver 1 (head)
2. Give Reaver 1 to another player.
3. Center Location 2 on Reaver 2.
4. Order Reaver 2 at Location 2 to Location 1.
5. Center Location 1 on Reaver 2.
6. Give Reaver 2 to another player.
7. Center Location 2 on Reaver 3.
8. Order Reaver 3 at Location 2 to Location 1.
9. Center Location 1 on Reaver 3.
10. Give Reaver 4 to another player.
11. Center Location 2 on Reaver 4.
12. Order Reaver 4 at Location 2 to Location 1.
13. Center Location 1 on Reaver 4.
14. Give Reaver 4 to another player.
15. Center Location 2 on Reaver 5.
16. Order Reaver 5 at Location 2 to Location 1.
17. Center Location 1 on Reaver 5.
18. Give all Reavers to the original player.

Now, I hope you can understand how that works. It looks like a lot but it isn't. You can keep the head Reaver player owned and screw with the center locations and such, and it should work. Just change some owners. Make sure the non-head Reavers can't build Scarabs, or you can add in "Modify Unit Hangar Count" triggers to set them to 0 as the locations center.

theres another way, which is spawn a unit every time you leave a location
then when that unit is out of the bigger location that is following the head, it disappears

One thing Moose, jsut to check if I full udnerstand what you're suggesting:

HEad moves to location - give head to player 12
2nd piece moves to location - gives second piece to player 12
ect ect ect

So when the piece of the snake goes to player 12 it stops
Though instead of player 12 I should make it another computer so the head can keep attacking.

Yeah, you probably shouldn't change the player who owns the head. Maybe just use a hero Reaver or something so it doesn't center on it for the other Reavers.

Of course, that only works until locations grab onto the wrong reaver as it moves rightwards tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2004-09-03 at 15:43:11
thats y u have it a 1by 1 or less location so they cant overlap...

Actually what the Kow dude said is the best way, hypothetically speaking, however he missed one important thing and that would be to make the locations .5x.5 size in Starforge, then it is a lot harder for the reavers to get confused. Bolt and I experimented with this (actually bolt made the map and was experimenting, i was just there) and it never messed up.

ok... i did say to do 1x1 so they dont confuse...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by @:@ on 2004-09-03 at 15:59:11
why use 1x1 when you can use .5x.5 which is alot better?

mabye an ulralisk as head insead of reaver beacuse a snake is fast and fangs and i think an ulralisk could represent that.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by The Black Hydralisk on 2004-09-03 at 21:53:00
or mabe the ultralisk could be the head and the reavers would be the body that would be cool and more realistic anacondas dont hawk lugies tongue.gif

edit oops that wouldnt work unless you changed the triggers from order to teleport wich still wouldnt work....i think

PPL! ur making this too complicated, you can have all the reavers the same player,
just center a location on the head, (id use hyper trigs) and have it use this trigger,

Conditions:
whatever
Actions:
Set Hanger Count to Whatever
Preserve Trigger

Simple as that

Kow, your method wouldn't work because all the locations would center on the same Reaver. Or, you would have to waste 6 Players on a snake. -_-
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Stereo on 2004-09-04 at 14:49:47
His method will only work if the locations are smaller than 1x1s, I tried tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Kow on 2004-09-04 at 15:22:45
You place them at the beginnning over the reavers... and then center the location on the unit IN the location! Sheesh! tongue.gif
