It amuses me how many people are miseducated about marijuana, it's less harmful than cigarettes (yes, you can die from these. You can die from living.) I voted yes.

It kills you anyways. Your brain cells die, which means you are more and more stupid every time (this has been tested). If it doesn't hurt you as much as cigarrettes, your friends will leave you alone more and more until the only friends you have smoke it too.

Sad life... closedeyes.gif

I think that it should be legalized. I, for one, still wouldn't smoke it. The glamour of its illegality would wear off and kids would try something else as a way of rebellion.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chill on 2004-09-04 at 10:02:07
I dont smoke a lot, but i still think it should be legal. Alcohol is legal, cigarettes are legal, and they are all bad for you. Why not weed? Besides, just because its illegal dosnt mean that people wont do it, just that they will get busted for doing it.

I seriously believe the legal drinking age should be lowered. My argument for that isnt very reasonable when i think about it--I just think it would benefit me a lot more than legalizing pot.

Yes it should be. You know what you're getting if it's from the government. Other people put glass in theirs to make your nose bleed so you think it's good. Do you really wanna go through that?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chill on 2004-09-04 at 10:10:53
Dude, i do not think you know what the censored.gif your talking about.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-04 at 10:23:15
Marijuana should be banned from everywhere... As well as cigarets (don't come complain with the "smokes = worst than mari" now tongue.gif ). I don't need to name reasons why it shouldn't be allowed... (school, mainly).
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Chill on 2004-09-04 at 10:31:37
Actually, you do. There are plenty of reasons why it should be legalized, and virtually none why it shouldn’t.

EDIT: sorry if that didnt make any sense... i havnt had my coffe yet...

Name some, then. I hardly know any, except for Medical issues.

And you perfectly know if people want some, they'll still get it. Legalizing it means more stonned people. Alright, some can control it, but some just don't give a f*** and smokes it before going to bed, before going to school, after school... How come? Cuz they could get some just at the corner of the street (easily, should I say).

Pretty much all arguments against marijuana can also apply to already legal things. You can say that it'll screw with your head and you're more likely to do harmful things while high. That can be said about alcohol too. If you say It'll give you cancer or kill you or some censored.gif like that, KckKryptonite posted a link I think you should check out. Besides, It's not even physically addictive like regular cigs.

I think it all should be banned.. why? because its bad.. bad i say!!! no but lots of lifes are ruined daily by all kind of drugs like alcohol and ciggs so why use it? Eat candy instead biggrin.gif

I think if your very sick and in pain u should beable to buy and smoke weed just ezy the pain ur in ^_^
Report, edit, etc...Posted by T.s.u.k.a.s.a on 2004-09-04 at 12:49:36
The whole reason why I want cigs and weed to be banned are second-hand smoke. If someones drunk, you do 2 things: 1. Don't piss them off. 2. Stay away from them. Even if you don't annoy the guys that are high, you still have to breathe. Second-hand smoke is like smoking a mini ciggarette or a small portion of marijuana. Marijuana only has medical purposes even though it's just a cheap substitute for suicide. Instead of smoking weed, people can just use prescription painkillers that contain narcotics. (I mean the legal ones) They are much less harmful.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Moogle on 2004-09-04 at 12:51:41
Second hand smoke yes i understand that. But sometimes we need drugs like weed ezy pains. Say your got bad case of cancer, say pills not working to take away pain and only drug that would work is weed? But its banned so you have live with this pain or kill urself.

I have an idea: let all these senators and representatives who have to vote on the issue smoke a few joints and experience the high for themselves. Then, they could make an intelligent, informed decision based on personal experience.

One problem with us trying to get marijuana legalized: nobody can remember where they left the petitions.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Nozomu on 2004-09-04 at 16:37:28
Yeah, Moogle, I'm sure tons of people have killed themselves because they couldn't get any weed tongue.gif .

The government spends 1.8 billion dollars anually to fight illegal drugs like marijuana. This money is wasted on people who do no harm to anyone but perhaps themselves. That money could have been used for military equipment for the real war we are having.

"The war we ought to fight is with terroist, not with ordinary Americans who do no harm to anyone but perhaps themselves."
- Republican governor of New Mexico, Gary Johnson

The legalization of drugs could actually be benefical to our society. Instead of spending our tax dollars on people who throw their lives away with drugs, we can use that money for improving schools, and drug education/rehabiliatation programs. Prisons are overcrowded with drug offenders and it cost money to keep them in jail. Some states spend too much buliding new prisons leaving their school facilities neglected.

When the police are busy enforcing the drug laws, they lose focus of other crimes. They are are occupied and more malicious criminals can elude the police easier when law enforcement attention is diverted.

As Nozomu already stated, if marijuana was legal, it wouldn't be fun to smoke anymore. To coroborate that, pot in Holland is sold legally in coffee shops and their pot consumption percentage is less than the United States. If you remember in history, beer consumption and crime was higher during the prohibition of 1920 than when it was legal. Not only that, drugs on the black market can be integrated with other hazardous materials. Legalization would allow the FDA to regulate the ingredients.
