Darky and Evolipel wants to release a map unprotector. They have posted it on blizzforums here: http://www.blizzforums.com/showthread.php?t=47955
Say them what you think about map unprotection.

We might not be able to stop them, but we will try.

I think it’s a shame that someone else thinks they have the right to intrude on my mapmaking and violate my wishes to keep my map protected. Regardless of the reason I chose to protect it, he is removing the creator’s choice and taking it for himself.

Sigh. I really hope this doesn't happen. When I make maps I usually take WEEKS if not MONTHS to complete my maps. And I spend like 6 hours a day doing it as well... I can't even begin to imagine what would happen if this program got released... I might not even release my maps anymore...

Clokr, it looks like you'll just have to keep dishing out newer versions of ProEdit to counter the map unprotector if it comes out... Or maybe some of the other programmers on this site can come together and make an ultimate protector... something has to be done

Its not easy to get better protections that what PROEdit does. I think that PROEdit does to the map the 80% of what the perfect protection would do. If any have any ideas of how to improve proedit I'll use them, but if darky want he'll release another version of his unprotector and everything will be unsafe again...

1.its really bad

2.n00bs can steal them its so ezy all they need to do is look for the triggerss that said who it is made by or at the screen chage that name

3.Pros will steal ur maps any way... (not counting sum people here) they can steal and i bet they would and all the people and b.net would any way... i did some thing funny i took my bot and made it go to the channel "sex" and every time sum 1 enterd it says "hate map protection? well go to the link in my profile and download Hacks,Unprotectors,Protectors." and it was a outwar site (i know sen dosent support but its just a Example) and i have over like 100 some thing clicks on that link.... thats pretty sad...

That's the problem! If darky makes an unprotector "n00bs" will be able to steal maps.

There won't be many sites to give popularity. I know that warboards, blizzforums, sc.org, sclegacy, campaign creations, samods, our affiliates and most importantly ME will not host or support this.

No, do not get any viruses involved, that is very illegal and your friend will find himself in jail very quickly. All we need is a better protector if this program is released.

damnit it all to hell... even though i havent released a map in a long time i still know how long it takes to make a map test a map fix the bugs in a map, and now when you all done with all that time, some n00b will be able to take it open in it in two seconds(im guessing) and be able to put some rigged unit in for some player he knows is rigged and put his name in all over the place... and the sad part is that the person makeing this program thinks this will help...

Is there anyway we can setup a protector that will rig the chk file used when unprotecting to malfunction after its protected? I've been making maps for 5 years now and It pisses me off when I find one of my maps edit and rigged, I dont even care about who knows that I made it, as long as people are playing MY version then im happy, an unprotector will ruin the mapmaking community can these people not see that? Making an unprotector is like making a program to Edit the code for Starcraft that would piss off Blizzard and this will piss off us, If this program is released I am going to do everything in my power to get the sites that host it shutdown and get the plauge off the internet!
