I begged Suicidal Insanity to give me another SCMdraft screenshot (mostly to test the new portal's thumbnail abilities in news posts).

- Less Memory Usage.
- Less CPU Usage.
- Updated minimap interface (Identical compared to SC for all sizes).
- You can now zoom in and out on the main window to see more or less of your map.

Yep! Everythings looking up biggrin.gif

Rock on, SI! Did he say how long it would be until the next version? Also, does the minimap display terrain colors the same as the in-game minimap?

Looking at the screenshot, it would appear so.

He's running some program that he doesn't want us to see. Big deal. He just wants some privacy. You're reading too much into this, dude.

A: well considering I removed between 5 and 10 thousand lines of old code (Which I may release someday for fun, as it is now useless) and only will soon have all editing capabilities that I had before (with a much nicer backend and better performance of course), it could still be a while
B: yes, that is what I meant with identical minimap colors. AT leats I compared a few to staredit minimaps, it _should_ always be the same

Actually, even if I had that on my system it would not run because I do not have any VB runtimes installed.

I have no idea how fast your comp is.... but map size doesn't have anything to do with the speed, only window size, and 0.5.0 has a factor ~5 speed increase over 0.4.6
(It runs smoothly on my 150 mhz laptop in 800x600 with 16 MB ram)

Isnt it windows explorer with some path that you dont dont want to see? Seems like your hobby is hide paths in screenshots.

taskmanager doesn't show the path tho, its just part of a secret project

Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's porn. Let's get on with it.

Why exactly are you waiting so long to release new betas of SCMD2? You used to put a new one out almost every week. How come now you're deciding to wait so long and in so many new features before releasing?

As I said I removed over 5000 lines of code, so entire display, unit, sprite, doodad, and minimap code.
I do not think anyone besides my beta testers are interested in a release which does not have a minimap, or does not have sprites displaying, or doodads, or has all units set to red, etc

i hate how the picture is so low quality

The quality is perfect. The map is just ZOOMED OUT. That's what the screenshot is showing. -_-

Nice photo there SI, so you've removed a lot of the code to check if this just worked anyhow, and will add it all together soon and hope it doesn't hate each other then?

no, I removed alot of the code because I did not like it, now most of the removed code has been redone with a much nicer structure. Also the old code was not multithreading safe and was all run in one thread, now I have multiple threads to have the core engine be more responsive even when drawing or animating lags

so you do not mind the terrain window having blank buttons and palette, sprites window not showing what is selected, doodads not showing anything, minimap blank, and just a really fast main window?
