to tell you the truth do you think emotions are real i think they are juss illusions created by the idiotic human race if there was realy emotions wede proly all be dead

Emotions are not real physically, but they occur in your mind mentally through chemical processes. (I'm assuming)

as for if emotions are illusions, I think they might be, but in this case ignorance is bliss, and I rather like feeling loved

Emotions and feelings are all central to how our brain works and is wired. If pain is just an illusion, explain that bloody, throbbing feeling in your face where Moose had kicked you, and either the anger or sadness boiling inside you.

That's something I think about a lot, but as with what happens after death, you can't know the answer, so I don't really think about it tooooo much.

Thouhg, the pain will be real, mentally.
It'll have existed in thought form, so even if he just thought he felt pain, the pain will still exist.

My Catholic/Buddhist/somethin else friend would love this forum. She would probably write 2 pages. Back to the topic. Emotions are teshnicaly real. Emotions are chemichal reactions in the brain. Since they take the form of chemicals and signals, they are real. Emotions are there so less intelligent creatures can preform rational actions in many situations. We don't need emotions. I try to get rid of mine by meditation. I can manipulate my anger and I've blocked love. The sense of pain has been dulled. (even though pain isn't an emotion) Emotions are for simpletons. The human race is pathetic. We fight each other over our petite differences instead of working together to solve the major problems in the world. I'm ashamed to be human.

Ive read it. It sucked muchly.

It was a good book, and it points some important things out.
Though I agree with hte idea of perfect control of people's lives, though in different ways, would be good for human race.

Also, for emotions to be completely chemical, then you'd have to say that the mind is too.
Emotions are a large aspect of the mind. Because of that, if emotions were not 'real', than neither would the mind, it would just be.

I understand that my logic there is flawed, but it still holds true in my opinion.

Also, pain, feel, taste, etc., are, in my opinion, not emotions.
They're sensory information that your brain tells your mind.

I was mostly seriouse. (about 85%) We are all just a bunch of tissue, chemichals, cells, and signals. People and emotions both are part chemichal and signal. By signal I mean that impulses that travel through our brain and deliver messages to the rest of the body and back to the brain. Here is how emotions work:
Ex. (the person in who's body this is going on is named Bob)
1. Someone dies.
2. Signals from the eyes and ears travel to the brain.
3. The brain analyzes the data and decides what chemichals to create based on:
a. What importnace was the person in Bob's life?
b. Did Bob like the person?
c. Relations the person had to Bob?
d. Other
4. The brain creates chemichals for the emotion and sends signals to other parts of the body to act accordingly.

Emotions are real, but they aren't matter. You kknow they are there, but you can't reach out and touch them.

We do need emotions. Emotions like being scared cause an andreline rush. That andreline rush could be the deciding factor in a life or death situation.
If you have no emotions, what do you live for? You love nothing, you care about nothing, you take no pride in any work you accomplish. You obviously can't have any friends, much less a girlfriend without emotions. Hell, why is it that you are even working on a map? For the pure benefit of the starcraft community? Without emotion, there is really no reason to live.

Emotions cause reactions far from rational.
Love -> unprotected sex
Hate -> fights
Scared -> unreasonable fright of something
the list goes on.

I for one Believe emotions are not real or needed

some people feel fear from something while another person does not
some people feel sad from something while another person does not

i think there are emotions are illusions that are created while you grow up

when you are shot it hurts for everyone pain is real so how can everyones emotions be so different unless our consince develops these elusions themselfs

On a final Note emotions are a weekness to the human race they are the reason we cant be honest with echother they are what hold us back
