You die. Game over, man. The good news is, there is no conciousness and no emotion. You won't care that you're dead.

Make the most of your life while you still can and stop worrying about what happens afterwards.

What I like to theink is that after death is a room with a computer where you can contact the living world but cant mention that your dead, and in that computer is a command thing where you can type in and get whatever you want and then when your done with whatever it is you want it disapears ( not the computer, the thing you asked for.) and it has every game and every program ever, all you have to do is type it in...cool idea thet lets me sleep at night hoping that happens after I die, or maybe its just black forever and your bored forever...

Let the question rest?
How can we let it rest?
It's the ultimate unanswerable question that can bring the ultimate dissapointment or fulfillment in certain people.

i beleive in reincarnation, we come back to live life again as a whole new person, i mean if we die and thats just it, well life's a waste, ain't it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by mobomojo on 2004-09-09 at 00:52:05
Oh yes, lets just drop everything we're doing, and contemplate on this. Yeah, lets worry about death and the ultimate end instead of enjoying our lives. Once we're dead, theres no more worries, so stop bothering with it!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EzDay281 on 2004-09-09 at 01:43:00
I'm not saying we should be obsessed with it, just that it just isn't something that some people can't let go.

that would be the best thing for someone who loves computers, i'd just hope for a life like reality but for the dead and alot less violence and people being mean

I also found myself believing into reincarnation... Somehow... Not religiously, though tongue.gif

Scientificaly... In some ways (I really dont know, maybe you just become dust and then atoms and you go away in the ground, then you somehow can get enough energy to become something else again xD )

I just don't want to think it's pitch black, even though I'm pretty sure that's how it is. It's too... Creepy. Gives no sense to life and to just go away after.

Exactly. That is why the percentage of teenagers committing suicide climbs every year as more and more evolution is taught basically summing up this sentence. "We are all animals, we have no point of existing."

When you die it will be just like you sleeping, except there will be no dreams, and you will never wake up.

Unless of course you believe in christianity, then you will die and appear instantly in front of the end of the world and you get judged and go to heaven if you are in the book of life or to hell if you isnt ;p

you are just a combination of molecules/atoms/stuff smartass.gif all your 'emotions' are just reactions, you dont 'feel' you dont 'think'. when u die u totaly dont do it -.-

reincarnation? isnt that like if u die, u get a new body and stuff but same spirit?

as for what really heppens, idk and nobody will unless they meet a living dead person and ask them so i guess all we can really do is wait and find out first hand
Report, edit, etc...Posted by @:@ on 2004-09-09 at 15:12:08
You already know what death feels like...it feels like when you spend the 7 hours of sleep at night without dreaming. (There is nothing to feel, you just don't exist)
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2004-09-09 at 15:51:41
Not that bad then. You don't even know you're dead. If you consider what Lisk stated, it doesn't matter HOW you die since emotions will just get lost after that and you'll seemingly stop existing...

Obviously you are 'athiest' but athiesism doesn't make any sense to me.

I'll give a quick review of the logic.

Athiest point of view.:

There is no god.

Question: If there is no god, where did all the absolute truths come from?

Don't know what an absolute truth is? -- Its the given evil (You can SAY and KNOW that THIS IS WRONG) "It's wrong to murder, steal, and lie" for example.

So you say, human people made up absolute truths.?

Question: How could an imperfect being make up absolute truths if he/she isn't perfect? (What if what he thinks is right is actually wrong)

Question: What is right and wrong? Where did right and wrong come from?

For there to be good, doesn't mean there is evil.
If it's not good then it is evil.
In order for evil to exist there must be good

There is no one that is good except for God.
If there is no God, then there is no good.
So...how does athieism make sense?

Final Question: Why do people know in the hearts (minds) that its wrong to randomly kill another person? (Which is an absolute truth)

Your body rots, Hundreds of maggets eat at your corpse! Trust me to say that disgust.gif

Though, How can we say what happens when you die? The only way to find this out is if you die and come back to live again.

@:@ you're stupid tongue.gif

People made them laws, no one said it was good or wrong. WHO ARE YOU to tell us that stealing is wrong? Or killing people. I'd do it immediatly if I wouldn't be thrown in jail after that for breaking the living laws.

Atheist rocks happy.gif

Somebody said it will either fulfill or disappoint your dreams? It won't, because you're dead and you.... well.... sit there until you rot. You have no conciousness, no thinking of any kind.... nothing. Not even black. Just nothing.

Everyone knows stealing is 'wrong',

When you steal something for the first time, you know in your mind you did something wrong.

ready for this, go watch an anime called Lain. If you can figure it out, then you have one crazy answer. Otherwise, it all depends on your beliefs! My personal idea is that insead of dieing, you are just born. Maybe there is no such thing as death, but a circle! That's why I also believe there are parts in history we like more than others, and that is because you were alive then! Obviously that means "TRUE Christians" must have been around when our God himself was alive in his son. I just can't find that interesting!

When you think about it, it makes sense!

P.S.- What if you weren't a human in your past life?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DrunkenWrestler on 2004-09-09 at 17:24:12
Death is like pre-birth. No conciousness, and no emotion. You wern't sad and just wishing you existed during the time period before you were born were you? Thinking that there is something after death because you feel it's sad that there's nothing won't change the fact that there is something.

QUOTE(RyanEdwardLee)
if we die and thats just it, well life's a waste, ain't it?

So the only thing keeping you from enjoying life while it last is the absence of an afterlife?

If you've ever taken an economics course, you learn that things are more valuble when they are scarce. When they quanity of something goes down, and demand for it is high, the price and value will skyrocket. If life is finate, it will therefore be limited, it will therefore be more valuble because of scarcity. If it were infinate it probably wouldn't be valuble.

I hope you don't think it's a waste to eat ice cream, because once it's gone, that's just it. You make the most of it while it's on your plate don't you? You should do the same with life. Make the most of it while it's still there, because once it's gone, it's gone forever.

QUOTE(@:@)
Exactly. That is why the percentage of teenagers committing suicide climbs every year as more and more evolution is taught basically summing up this sentence. "We are all animals, we have no point of existing."

Evolution is simply a biological process, not a philosophy to life or a moral code. I didn't cry when Newton discovered the science behind the rainbow, I found it even more interesting than I did before. I didn't become depressed when I learned about evolution, but I laughed at the monkeys at the zoo because we got the better evolutionary path.

Let me add, that how you feel about a claim, has no affect on it's veracity. I don't like the fact that there are germs in my house that will make me sick, but that won't change the theory of germs (Germ Theory).

QUOTE(@:@)
Unless of course you believe in christianity, then you will die and appear instantly in front of the end of the world and you get judged and go to heaven if you are in the book of life or to hell if you isnt

Wonderful God. Sending someone into oblivion for something as meager as disbelief. Thanks God, for creating me, knowing well ahead of time that I won't believe (being the omniscient being you are), and using that as a justifiable farce to toss me into oblivion. Thanks for hiding from me all my life, then when I use the power of reasoning that you've granted me (created in your image) to come to the conclusion you don't exist, I'm damned for not believing in you. You're a digusting being.

QUOTE(@:@)
Question: If there is no god, where did all the absolute truths come from?

...

So you say, human people made up absolute truths.?

Yes, what is so implausible about that?

QUOTE(@:@)
Question: How could an imperfect being make up absolute truths if he/she isn't perfect? (What if what he thinks is right is actually wrong)

Right and wrong are subjective, not objective. What one precieves as immoral (like polygamy) could be moral to another. Human societies have developed rules to live by as the price paid for a benefical society. It would be turmoil if stealing was okay, therefore stealing is banned for the benefit of the society.

QUOTE(@:@)
Question: What is right and wrong? Where did right and wrong come from?

Humanity. You're making an argument from ignorance. You don't know - therefore Goddidit. The Greeks didn't know how lightning appeared, so they jumped to the conclusion that it was the act of Zeus. Your reasoning is also flawed in that you jump from the conclusion that it was some supreme being, to that being is God. What makes you so aplomb that it was God, and not Vinshu?

"Absence of evidence is not evidence of the absent."

QUOTE(@:@)
For there to be good, doesn't mean there is evil.
If it's not good then it is evil.
In order for evil to exist there must be good

Good and evil are subjective. Theses statements are imprecise and seem to have a few loopholes. I could take a dump, that wouldn't be considered 'good,' but I hope you won't classify it as 'evil.' Sentence 1 and 3 seem to contradict. As that stupid paper clip in Microsoft Word would say, "consider revising."

QUOTE(@:@)
There is no one that is good except for God.
If there is no God, then there is no good.

So the only reason that you have even a shread of decency in you is because you think there exist a God? The only thing keeping you from murdering and raping innocent people is God, and if he were proven to not exist you would go on a Grand Theft Auto rampage? You're a scary person.

QUOTE
Final Question: Why do people know in the hearts (minds) that its wrong to randomly kill another person? (Which is an absolute truth)

Because the world just wouldn't be a better place if you knew your neighbor could spontaneously kill you, would it?

You've obviously been fed tons of bulls*** and strawmen arguments from your church. Explore the world without letting their bias hold the truth from you.

this is one of most intriguing questions of all-time, kind of like the chicken and egg thing, but no one can really find out cause if you do then you'll be dead! I was wonder about this question and to be honest I want to find out but not want to at the same time. Is that too confusing? biggrin.gif

The chicken egg was laid by an organism that wasn't quite chicken, but almost.

*smacks flaming_X upside the head for citing the theme of Lain incorrectly* I highly doubt that was the point of the movie...its a tad bit deeper than that -_-;

anyways, I think you are either going to heaven or hell. Only god knows what goes on in either of them, but I guess I'm going to find out one day...

and now, lord of the rings:
QUOTE
[We see how inside the city the people are running from Sauron's forces as the Nazgûl fly around the city
again. Everything looks hopeless as the enemy tries to break the gate the men are defending. Farther away,
Gandalf and Pippin are sitting together, watching the destruction. The hobbit turns to look at Gandalf.]

Pippin: "I didn't think it would end this way..."

Gandalf: "End?"

Gandalf: "No, the journey doesn't end here."

Gandalf: "Death is just another path...One that we all must take."

[Pippin listenes and watches Gandalf, as he continues. All sounds of the surrounding battle quiet down.]

Gandalf: "The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all change to silver glass..."

[There is a little smile on Pippin's face.]

Gandalf: "...And then you see it."

Pippin: "What? Gandalf? ...See what?"

[As Gandalf continues, we can hear the melody of 'Into the West' on the background.]

Gandalf: "White shores...and beyond."

Gandalf: "The far green country under a swift sunrise."

[They both smile as they look at each other.]

Pippin: "Well, that isn't so bad."

Gandalf: "No...No it isn't."
