I am thinking of taking on a projected named whatever, which is a remake of your popular games such as:

I do believe it is possible to make this game with a bit of binary add/sub/multiplication first attempted by BoltHead(U).

Basically it uses some trig equations / physics e(potentional)=mgh, acceleration, etc... I'll have to review my school work.

But anyways you would start out on a map and have players randomly played at X,Y locations on a terrain created by buildings or whatever.. Buildings could be blown up if the bomb doesn't come in close enough proximity to kill the player.. and the player would drop down potentially losing hp. etc.

Players can set the energy and angle of their projectile. Different effects could be added to the weapons to do different types of upgrades such as cluster bombs, and whatever else we can come up with.

Anyone have some ideas for such a project.. more so from the more mathematically skilled people on here. The hardest part I believe is getting the math going on here to be fast enough to calculate the next point at which the bomb is at when fired... so it doesnt take a day and a 1/2 to do 1 players turn.

the idea is nice..but the way it's going to work would be INCREDIBLY difficult (if possible). the problem would probably be creating the launch of the weapon, then recording it so you can "play" it backwards, but that would only work on a "flat"terrain.

calculation isn't hard, it's actually getting the numbers in the right place that will be hard, don't you wish staredit had a calculator? sad.gif

If done correctly, this will be one of the best maps out there.
About the physics equations and stuff.

Just make a google search or something on projectile equations. Then try and make every single posible scenario not bug out.
I will be long and hard, I think this map would be best done as a group prject, since there are so many posibilities.

A way to eliminate the posibilities would be to make angle/speed restrictions.

Sounds amazing. It'll be incredibly hard tho. BTW, where can I download Scorched Earth.

Scorched Earth - The mother of all games.
I have it on the disk it came on from long ago. biggrin.gif

anyway, I've thought about trying to make something like this before, but It seems like way more work than I want to do :/, Good luck, though,

After cheacking for the disk, It seems to be lost, probably under my desk.

i think Lemmings would be kewl if you could do it on starcraft

Yeah lemmings would be awesome however have to come up with some very good ways of blocking terrain.. plus the people playing it would need a very good imagination.. lol

But yeah, I just started college taking electronics and calculus and all the fun things... So binary and equations that will be needed I'll be reviewing so should be fun.

edit: I'm gonna start working on a basic projectile demo to see how difficult this would be.

No thats the fun part biggrin.gif I plan to use exploding effect for each point the projectile moves.

Oh yes, someone needs to make Lemmings ASAP, that map would litterly own if done correctly.

Yes! You get tools like dynamite, building blocks, shovels and more and you gotta try to get to the goal location. I might make it after my FF7 map if no one claims it. tongue.gif

hehe i used to do lots of lemmings and make custom lemmings maps

Who said "we ran out of the ideas" ?!?!

Making 'lemmings' is a really great idea!

And no one said that the gravity must take them from the top of the map to the bottom, make 3D lemmings, with cliffs as things that only some of them can get through....

And, BTW, I played lemmings a little, long ago, can't anyone post some screenshots of complicated levels, please.
