This was a strange error I got while I was refreshing a page on the site. It only appeared once, but I just wanted to make sure you guys knew about it.

oh yeah, and every now and then when I try to post a new topic I get a page that says I don't have permission. I don't know if these are linked or not. Anyways, here is a screen shot of the first error...

Okay, the issue seems to be growing more and more as our hits grow.

I've "repaired" the mySQL database that Staredit Network uses. It all seems to have been functioning. If this still happens, tell me and I'll bring it to my host.

That... And random 404 errors here and then. I used to not see them much but it's getting worst tongue.gif

Also, yesterday (I think), there was a long time where a MySQL error was there but it was back after. I believe that was you fixing something?

Ya, i think every decent number of posts personin here has seen something similar to that, did anyon notice that it says, "Can't connect to local server through socket '/var/tmp/mysql.sock' , mysql.sock, wtfage?

mysql.sock

that is just refering to the socket (sock) mysql uses. most of the time it is port 21, but it varies.

yoshi, due to the overwhelming number of people at this site, you are going to need to start closing / deleting topics to help keep the database size down, by the looks of it you are probably using 20mb's in the database alone, and with a download directory this size, that's probably another 50+mb's of space. you must have a hard time paying for this, you may want to get google ad's or something to help pay for this...

Actually, the SQL space being used up is 100 megs of PURE TEXT . Crazy stuff eh?

Anyway, I think my host fixed it because im not getting the error anymore.

Periodically, maybe once every 250 page loads, I get browser error "connection refused" or get the MySQL error "lost contact with server during transfer" Id the database being overloaded?

DT do you use mozilla? That happens to me too occasionally. It does that with numerous other sites too. In fact, some sites stay that way, so I can't get in them... ever.

I think it's a bug with mozilla disgust.gif

i really dont think so, I get this every once and a while while using ie, netscape, or firefox, so it really doesnt matter, this forum is so big, it will continue to happen. untill yoshi decides to buy an independant server, with an indepindent mysql databases. so we will have to deal wiht this.

Ugh this really pissed me off mad.gif

For 10 minutes or something around that I couldn't connect to the site cuz it either did 1 of 2 things each time I tried to connect

1. Wouldn't load and after a certain time it said "done" on the bottom bar
2. Connection refused

Damn mozilla! pinch.gif

actually, it could be ohmy.gif !

i am using ie, and firefox. and i get errors only when using firefox, which is based off of mozilla. so it could be that it is mozilla making these errors. but then again, with the size of this site, it could be it is just too big.
