I have been a member of Staredit.net for about a week now, and this is the First time I got to post because every time before now the site has been down. I marked my self as an adverge map maker, but I'm not sure if I picked the right map maker ranking because I'm still pritty bad with alot of triggers, but On the other hand I'know all the basics of map making except for switches I suck at those. Then again I'm not new to map making it self I use to make only Melee maps, but know I'm trying to get in to making UMS maps. I'm always looking for help though with map making trying to find some one willing to teach me stuff so I can get better at map making, but so far I have failed in my search I even went to the great Panzer_Kavalier, but he turned out to be a complete waste of time because he is a complete A**. You'll all probally laugh at me because I'm the leader of a map making clan. If your wondering the name of the clan it is Clan Tempest_X. yes there is a period behind the name because the Tempest_X was already taken so i just add a period to the name. My clan Channel is Op Tempest_X. anybody looking for me will most likely find me there. So the reason I'm made this topic is so maybe some one skilled at map making and willing to come on to b net to teach me map making might show up or even post a a reply to this topic, but i know that won't happen all I'll get is a crude reply.

Well I moved this topic but now that i have i'm not sure if i should have. Gennerally its better to ask for specific help instead of "help me be better" help. Most people don't have the time to teach someone everything they need to know.
Well anyways i wasn't sure if you were asking for a good mapmaker to work on a map with you or you just want a good mapmaker to volinteer a hugh portion of there time to make you good.

yes i would recommend changing your skill to beginner like i am because switches are real important to know about and are required for many triggers. sorry i cant teach you either, cuz im not advanced.

Not sure if the switches are in the Tutorials Database but when the Tricks&tips (*AHEM! yoshi) is up and running you should check it out. It will teach you about swtiches. Too lazy to help

Don't focus on being a good map maker. Focus on making good maps. Think of an idea, maybe nothing grandiose but at least decent at first, then work your way up as your skill level upgrades. The only real way to learn map making is by doing, and if (and when) you get stuck you'll know what kinds of questions or knowledge you need to get past that, versus someone just telling it to you but not having the advantage of putting it into context.
In other words, it's kinda like the difference between learning to ride a bike by reading about it or learning by practice.

The most wrong thing to do is to tell everyone "I dont know anything so teach me". Map making is mostly exploration and self-learning. However you are free to ask specific questions, just don't make them too general

Gotta love switches. Especially if you know how to use them the fab nub way (as in using oh say 3 switches to actually create 7 switches, yee). Yeah man I learned almost everything I know about mapping on my own, just look at all the triggers, goof around a lot, then come here to learn a few tricks.
