Invision Power Boards have decided to make payment for boards now MANDITORY for everyone, including this website. Luckily, I managed to get Invision 2.0 Final days before they removed it forever for free. To stay up to date with the latest board software, we need to get a licence.

Heres how much we're trying to get:
$200 US = Lifetime Licence

Personally, I would like to brand these boards. We're running the site globally, so branding them would make it a more personal feel.

So far, we have $10 from me (I'll add more as I get some more funds, most likely the most I'll be putting towards this is $50 from webhosting and so on). No, we're not shutting down, nor are we requiring everyone to do this.

I hate my credit card. I was going to donate over PayPal but for some reason it isn't working properly. I may have to just write a check and send it over snail mail.

Just a question: Is removing the copyright really that important?

Yoshi, I will try to donate you some money, but the thing is that I don't have my own Credit Card or anything like that. If I cannot get my parents to donate some money what can I do to help you? I want to see SEN survive, but I just don't have the funds.

I know that everyone would hate this, but what about taking out some ads? There are ads that pay you for everytime someone clicks on it. Maybe if the whole community clicked it once you could have a decent cash base.

I hope that was a help, even though I can't actually donate money.

Nooooooo! No ads. No one would click on them anyways and even if they did, it would barely generate anything. A better way to go would be a sponsered ad.



It's not deathly important that we obtain any license, from what I understand. IF yoshi wants to keep updating the board with the newest version, he'd need the license.

If this were a smaller site, I wouldn't really care. But I would like to brand it, since we did convert this whole thing to a website.


SEN is surviving just fine. I now host people on my server and it now totally removes the cost of running this website. I myself however am putting a few bucks forward towards this cause.


I'm not getting ads no. Maybe at the bottom one of these days, but it wont be as annoying as last time.


It doesn't matter to me. I would like any money anyone wants to give sooner than later, but chances are, we wont get this licence for a while.

Whats the time limit on paying up the fee and the possible issues if you fail to pay for a free copy you recieved?

hmm in what currency do you want me to send you the money? is SEK alright or should i go exchange it?, if i exchange it will probably cost some and i cant send the same amount but if i dont you have to exchange and it will still be less money..

Consider at least $20 more into the pot. Me sending you at least that much is 200% certain. This is my favorite site I have ever found and I will never leave so long as it stays on. Plus, new software and such could increase the capabilities of members or perhaps the size of permittable files.

I bet some kind of script will be released to convert a IPB forum to a PHPBB forum because of the new rule.

But a lot of the elements on your site would have to be recoded if you switched, which would really suck, so I don't really recommend that (assuming that a conversion utility will be made). But PHPBB is pretty good in my opinion, a bit less cluttered than PHPBB but not as good site integration as IPB. IPB also has more general forum features and preferences. PHPBB is more skinable though.

And also, do you plan on ever updating SE.net to be something other than a starcraft mapping site? Because I don't think there are too many years left in the SC mapping community (however sad that may be ).

I hate phpBB, those boards suck, and I dont want vB because its what all the big sites get. I want to stay different.

What else could it be? I mean... espcially with staredit in the domain name. Map making is keeping sc alive a little more and sc is keeping map making alive. It's like a symbolic relationship.

However, if sc2 is released, would this be a sc1 + sc2 editing site or is there just going to be a whole new domain? That is if you plan on doing a sc2 map site yoshi.
