is there any other jobs that you think that don't get paid enough??

American and Canadian teachers are probably different. I dont think Canadian teachers get paid enough.

I DO know a job that gets paid TOO much. Hockey or any other professional sport.

American teachers are paid slave wages. If we want to fix our extremely cruddy education system (50% of American blacks and hispanics drop out of high school) we need to give them incentives.

Teachers get a very low salary, its basically Minimum Wage! Most of my teachers say that they teach because they like to not for the money. One time I averaged it all out and got an average of like $30,000 a year or something (might of been a month not totally sure). Teachers that are coaches however, get a little more money but not much (mby like 5,000 or 10,000 more) even though they put in a lot more time than the other teachers. Once you think about it though teachers are always working. They have to make the test, and grade the papers, make up new assignments, have a schedule for the week, and get everything ready for like report cards. They do to much work for that little of pay, but if they were paid anymore then most of the schools would not be public. My school is paid by the residents so it doesn't have much money for anything, and if I need something for school than I gotta buy it, it doesn't come with the class. The bottom line is teachers, and coaches alike get paid very low, but if they did not get paid so low a lot of the schools you would have to pay to get in. It just comes down to what you think it right... disgust.gif

Meh, no teachers aren't paid enough. Neither are Firefighters, Police Officers etc. etc. and all those kinds of people who risk there very lives for us lazy people, and we can't afford to give them a good salary. And the stupid people shouldn't complain about no money, they would probably gladly give professional sports people tons of money to keep them in a particular team.

Perhaps we would have more money to give the teachers if the government (city / state / federal) wasn't wasting all our tax dollars on other stupid censored.gif .

Edit: But I agree... Teachers constantly work off the clock and get paid very low. In like every other work force, it's against policy to work off the clock for your job... but teachers can? How's that.

I dont care, teachers are evil!

I think the students should decide how much they get payed, by how well the students think the teacher teaches and how nice they are. I only truely like about 2-3 teachers in my school, all males. My experience with female teachers has always been a bad one.

IMO, the reason people don't want to be teachers is because of the modern laws. You lay a hand on a kid, it's sexual harrasment or violence. Ten or twenty years ago, you could smack a kid upside the head and the kid would learn his place. Now, the teacher gets fired, sued, maybe even jailed. Now, I'm not saying they should carry baseball bats and just run around going about a massacre, but they are definitely too restricted. Back in the days, nobody censored.gif ed every time they broke a nail or scraped their knee, they had some balls, and didn't try to run around blaming others and taking people to court because of things that were thier fault. America is losing testicular fortitude... damn wimps. tongue.gif

I agree with mini... if students were beaten (disciplined more w/e) they'd be more effective students, thus causing them to get good jobs which in turn will make them wealthier, and because of that, more tax money gets paid, causing the government to have more money for schools, etc.

Its not like the schools have money laying around either....

well my mom is a teacher so i actually know the salaries the average teacher makes. 30,000$ dollars is just the basic contract when you start your career. when you get a higher degree you get from about 10- 15 grand more somethimes. you also get about 3 or 4 grand more each year you teach. if you add it up for several years you make a censored.gif load of money and get summers and school vacations off!

America gets more and more immoral as it falls farther and farther away from the christianity princples it was founded on.

Its a fact that it costs $8-10k a year per kid to go to a public school (in taxes)

It only costs 3.5k for me to go to a private school and I have a higher GPA than most of my friends that don't go to my school. Having said that, I would also like to point out that I am the 25th/64 smartest kid in my class as far as grades.

I think some people are getting paid a little too much in the public schools. Or offer too many extra-curricular activities.

Like the person who sued mc donalds because they burned themselves because the coffee was hot... and it didn't have a cautionary label stating it was hot?

Like omg. What do you expect... cold coffee? Eh... it is just too damn ridiculous.

Well no, it cost you 11.5k because you still have to pay the taxxes for the public school smile.gif.

I don't think teachers are paid enough. Teachers are one of those jobs that no one really thinks of. Like the garbage man and the sewage guys.

Back when they had the nuns teaching school, you were either brought up their way or whacked with a ruler into submission. tongue.gif Now, we get this crap "I don't speak English, can't everyone else just convert to my language" mentality of self-centeredness. :/

Most of the kids now are spoiled and stupid.

The teachers dont' get paid enough, but it's only because of the failing system of the school.

A friend of mine gave me a very good idea for a school idea. Think about this:

Kids go to school only if they want to. Kids learn only if they want to. Those we don't want to, stay at home and feed off whatever they want, but kids who go to school receive the exact same amount of attention as the teachers we have now, probably even more. This is because the teachers will not be grown ups but other kids who have already worked ahead and are willing to spread their knowledge to others who also want to learn it. One person could go and study math and teach the other kids. Not only will it be easier to learn, it will guarantee all people who graduate be smarter and those we could not pass school anyway to fail and basically fail at life. Now, according the theory of natural selection, they will eventually dissappear because they simply cannot survive a world that is run by very smart people.

Good idea yes? happy.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2004-10-08 at 20:43:02
Natural Selection doesn't apply. Human life is valued too high for that. We would rather let them live in slums on welfare and leech off hardworking middle classers instead of that. If "Natural Selection" were true, would we have inherited diseases, etc? People would die of those.

But, about the "wanting to learn" thing, you are right. Kids are forced to go to school until age 16 here, and if they don't want to learn, they won't.

Edit: Smart people don't run the world. They are far outnumbered. tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by CheeZe on 2004-10-08 at 20:45:53
you don't get it, if they were to live there ("slums" or wahtever), they wont' live long. they WILL eventually dissappear. sick.gif
