Well i really love the classic R-type,gradlius,1942 shooter and other 2D shooter games

On starcraft can we make that?

heres some ideas

To move a ship we can use the RC Challenge moving ship thingy without using the create the ship. You can use the dropship system with only up and down and the ship moves by its self

To shoot you can use the dropship system and add the shoot which creats a unit by the human player to attack an enemy

and enemies just attack

Can it work?

Hum... Use 20 x 20 map, (Yes it's working in single player) And make Your "dropship" select the target...

is there a map for a 2D Shooter?

I think I figured out how to make a 2d shooter map like raiden. You need lots of locations and a wraith. And when the wraith cloaks, it fires!

In a sense SC is a 2d game...so its already 2d shooter;). The dropship shooter reminds me of the game worms i think its called. You should check it out. (I just submitted it)

umm well for one thing you cant detect useing triggers if a wraith is cloaked but nice try.

Im sure theres a way you could.

Worms has an issue though, it targets only a single target. I created an interesting random generator for each one created for what it targets, but it disappeared.

Isn't that what Worms does, random shooting?

Yeah, it randomly chooses one enemy but it's still targeting ONE person.

All you'd have to do is use a building system to move the ship around, and use relative movement to get everything else working. The building system is ideal for games with less than 6 options. The hotkeys are what's good about it, because then you could play with your keyboard. Maybe you could make a map called "classic arcade" or something and include all those classic arcade games.

( censored.gif why don't I just make pacman right now?)

i always envisioned something like this before, but it could be really complicated. The close anyone has ever gotten to a 2d shooter (from my point of view, and other than worms) is the old blizzard map "Defenders of the Whatchamacallit"

and in a real sense, that wasn't much of a 2d shooter (like worms and such)

You mean like those arcade games where you have the guns and you shoot the ducks?
If you mean that you can have like a civilian in a row of like 10 things that you move to a certain position then you put like "shoot" and it sends out a scourge or something that's a bullet.

I haven't actually played the 2D shooting games, but I believe that wolf isn't talking about that type of 2D (I could be wrong). Wolf said something along the lines of shooting up or down, in which case this would be a side-scrolling rpg with shooting up and down. It would be possible, but I don't think a side-scrolling rpg is very practical.

*shrugs*

I like my duck game idea smile.gif. It sounds kinda fun right? lol. People could even take turns trying to shoot the duck, it could be a mini game! For when you got to a certain point, say you got 7 shots, and you had to hit 5 ducks or you lost wouldn't that be cool?
