2) Alcohol has been proven to be worse for you then marijuana.
There are lots of sides to that marijuana is actually not addictive at all (or not as much as tobacco, which is legal).
What do you guys think?
This isn't a personal attack, but do you have any proof?
Yes, alcohol may may be very bad for you, but only if you take it in large quantities, and that is disproportionate to a single joint you are comparing to.
Alcohol can cause blood poisoning and nervous system temporary failures (and kidney failures) but ...marijuana are mind-altering. In other words, they change how the brain works. They all contain THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the main active chemical in marijuana. They also contain more than 400 other chemicals. Marijuana’s effects on the user depend on it’s strength or potency, which is related to the amount of THC it contains(5). The THC content of marijuana has been increasing since the 1970s. Which means it's getting worse.
What? How is marijuana not addictive? It is addictive because the chemical inside satisifies the receptors of your cells. However when the receptors are satisifies, they become part of your body and you mind need thinks it needs the substance (which your body can't produce itself) so you continually to consume large amounts of marijuana. Same happens to smoking, and anti-smoking drugs without nicotine works because there are chemicals that send messages to your brain to fool that your cell receptors have been satisfied so you do not have the desire to take a smoke.
And marijuana what else actually happens when you smoke marijuana? Well, it won't kill you, it will slowly ruin your life. Depending on the:
-user's previous experience with the drug;
-how strong the marijuana is (how much THC it has);
-what the user expects to happen;
-where (the place) the drug is used;
-how it is taken; and
-whether the user is drinking alcohol or using other drugs.
then here comes the effects, these are the minors that appear from the first few trials you take marijuana.
-problems with memory and learning.
-distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch)
-trouble with thinking and problemsolving
-loss of motor coordination; and
-increased heart rate.
I learnt this as part of my project. And the loss of motor coordination is the reason why there will be more car crashes.
So here comes the long-term effects:
Cancer
It’s hard to know for sure whether regular marijuana use causes cancer. But it is known that marijuana contains some of the same, and sometimes even more, of the cancer-causing chemicals found in tobacco smoke. (So here is why marijuana is worse than smoking - tobacco and tar) Studies show that someone who smokes five joints per day may be taking in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes a full pack of cigarettes every day.
Lungs and airways
Lungs and airways—People who smoke marijuana often develop the same kinds of breathing problems that cigarette smokers have: coughing and wheezing. They tend to have more chest colds than nonusers. They are also at greater risk of getting lung infections like pneumonia.
Immune system
Animal studies have found that THC can damage the cells and tissues in the body that help protect against disease. When the immune cells are weakened you are more likely to get sick.
I'll just clarify this a bit, the parts it damage are your lymph node, which produces lymphocytes and phagocytes, the primary defences of your body.
So in conclusion, marijuana should never be legalised.
