Analysis: Clinton eyes U.N. post

By ROLAND FLAMINI, UPI Chief International Correspondent

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 (UPI) -- Former U.S. President Bill Clinton has set his sights on becoming U.N. secretary-general. A Clinton insider and a senior U.N. source have told United Press International the 56-year-old former president would like to be named leader of the world body when Kofi Annan's term ends early in 2006.

"He definitely wants to do it," the Clinton insider said this week.

A Clinton candidacy is likely to receive overwhelming support from U.N. member states, particularly the Third World. Diplomats in Washington say Clinton would galvanize the United Nations and give an enormous boost to its prestige. But the former president's hopes hang on a crucial question that will not be addressed until after the presidential elections: can he get the support of the U.S. government -- a prerequisite for nomination

I think this would be awesome to have Bill as head of U.N, he would certainly do a better job than that idiot Kofi Annan.

I say it's a good idea. Clinton wasn't a bad president like some people might say he was. His only real fault was being a human with misplaced sexual desires.. Anyway, go Clinton.

I think Clinton would do a great job so long as he can keep it in his pants.

ROFLMAO I WAS JUST THINKING THAT WHEN I READ IT
i thought he would pay like the French Head's assitant and he would use like 300,000 for "hush money" and in like 2 months she would talk about it and sue him, his wife AND monica would be all WTF BILL!! that would be so incredibilly hilarious and i dont think he should be head of the U.N. HA he would disgrace us so much, he would probably do something he disgraces not only the U.S. but Canada, Mexico, and all the other countries on our hemisphere of the world, i will make a bet on that, he will eventually do something like that

I think he'd be great for it. He was a good president, just, you know, the sex-scandel kinda ****ed him up, but he still did a good job. So, yeah, I think he should.

Bill Clinton is an absolute master of foreign policy and diplomatic relations. I can't think of anyone better-suited for the job.

I am agreeing with you and salacious all the way. If you think about it nothing really went wrong during that time period, and he most likley would have been re elected (in my opinion) if he "read quote".

It's a good idea, if only because everyone else thinks so. Whether he does a good job or not, he's got a following, and that alone is a good thing... at least as long as he doesn't screw up in any way big.

I don't think him buggering some intern affects his ability at politics... except maybe his credibility for lying about it (which most people seem to have forgiven).

I don't understand why people think Clinton was bad.

Clinton as the head of the UN? Not too shabby of an idea. I happen to like Bill Clinton, mainly for the reasons Cheeze mentioned, but also because he plays the sax.
