\Ex*ist"ence\, n. [Cf. F. existence.] 1. The state of existing or being; actual possession of being; continuance in being; as, the existence of body and of soul in union; the separate existence of the soul; immortal existence.

2. Continued or repeated manifestation; occurrence, as of events of any kind.

"Existence really is an imperfect tense that never becomes a present." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Our existence is defined by what we in acuality 'remember' from the previous second. You can never truly percieve the moment or this second in time. Because before we can even think about it, it is already in the past.

Which brings me to another issue. How can we ever be sure that we "exist" at all ? Only by what we remember, and no one has a memory so perfect they can remember every second. Sometime between now and last year I could have popped in and out of existence several times and have no memery of it. In physics there are a handfull of things that exist for only a few hundred picoseconds (1 trillionth of a second) then are once again non-existent in our universe. Who's to say this cant happen with larger amounts of matter.

i have a simple concept, jump off a roof, if it hurts, you exist, i did...it hurt pretty bad

Well Helios, if we did suddenly pop out of extience, we would all do it at the same time - or else people would just see people randomly diapearing and reapearing on the street

Also, things like the sun and the earth wouldnt dispear, or we would have known, we can notice a split second of darkness, feel a split second of falling etc, and i have never experienced this.

It is possible, but highly unlikely, that could cause alot of problems, like if someone dispeared the second someone punched them in the head, when tehy reapear they will be in the same space as the fist and somethign werid would happen.

The Memory is a weird thing, a goldfish has a 5 second meory span right? So do they disapear out of existance every 5 seconds? that would create a disurbance in the water and we would see it - right?

Anyways, i know absolutely nothing about physics and censored.gif so i pulled all this outa my ass, but ti makes sence to me

Ok, try to eat Kow and if he's tasty, then you are human. But if you find him repulsive tasting, then you're just crazy.(No offense, Kow.)

High makes total sense to me!

I have recently learned from looking in my physics book, there is a widespread theory in physics that says all matter (including humans) flickers in and out of existence at a rate of 10^23 times per second, its realted to Planck's constant.

You didnt see the part about picoseconds. If we were non-existent for a few pico seconds it would be faster than we could see. (much much faster). Even light the fastest thing in our universe would almost show no movement in a few picoseconds.

Im assuming we cant measure picoseconds yet, if so we could esaily prove this right or wrong.

If we flicker in and out of existance, extienstance is real right?

No we can measure picoseconds one method is a pulse generator, the other is the digital delay generators. But in no way could we ever take a "snapshot" of someone dissapearing in these incredibly short time periods because like I said before light cant travel that fast to even reach the camera exposure.

No not necisarily. It could mean that the universe in fact is the thing flickering.
