Staredit Network -> Website Feedback, Bugs & Discussion -> Map Team Anouncement

People have been recently submitting huge ammounts of maps which is fine. But they are quite lazy and they see at the top of the Categories Featured maps: UMS and Melee and decide to put them there. Featured Maps category is not for you users.

QUOTE
Featured Maps:
Maps created by Staff, Administrators or close friends of Staredit Network.

That means that the people who can put their maps there know already that they can. Even I can't post my maps there yet. Only if you made that map can you put it there in that section unless you know the maker fits one of those categories.

I ask isolated to make it so that only Adm, Staff and Map Team can submit/move a map into the Featured Maps category.

These are the Categories.
Featured Maps
-- Use Map Settings
-- Melee Maps

Use Map Settings Maps
-- Bound
-- Defense / Offense
-- Movie / Trailers
-- RPG
-- Arena / Click
-- Melee Style
-- Campaigns
-- Experimental Maps
-- Other
Melee Maps
-- Regular
-- Pro
Files
-- Staredit Editors
-- Staredit Programs
-- Blizzard Files
-- Triggers
-- Replays
-- Video Tutorials
-- Required Files
-- Other
Wavs
-- Music Themes
-- Sound effects
-- Other Sounds

Users should not submit their maps in the categories highlighted in the red. They should submit them under a category tht fits their map like "Bounds". The Pro Melee maps are also a non-submiter. If you want to submit a Melee map submit it under "Regular" and if it's good enough it will be moved to "Pro".

Verbal Warning to InsaneMapper: Even though there was no previous announcement like this, you will be warned because you submitted around 15+ UMS maps in the Melee section.

Should be an easy fix, I think
(easy as an uber gay error-out if you try to submit a map in a restricted catagory)

Eaxctly.
People should not submit where they aren't supposed to submit.

Also, may I ask for you to make some changes?:

•Allow the Map Team to temporarily ban users from submitting maps(Some people keep submitting the same map over and over again, and it's annoying to keep deleting them).

•In the "Approve/Delete" page, next to the actions, make it show the destination category, as well as a link that will open a popup showing the description.

Both of these will make our jobs easier.

I'll look into it tomorrow.

Temporarily Ban InsaneMapper from the DLDB for Submiting the same map(Different version like 5 times).
I also think that he is just submiting every single map he has.
He used the featured maps category again and I PM him with a verbal warning.

It's up to the other map team members, moose and isolated for the ban.

I say yes to the 2 points that DK posted.

If someone keeps submitting the same map, warn em. I've done it.
If someone abuses the categories often, warn em. I've done it.

Umm... Moose I think you already know this... We Map Team can't warn yet.(As of last time I checked)
I can only do verbal warnings.

About the categories... What about maps that are like Starcraft versions of other RTS games, like Age of Empires? Where would they fit? They're not that common on B.net but I can give you some examples if you aren't sure what I'm talking about.

Feel free to PM me or isolated and we'll warn for you. In extreme cases, you can even tell the global moderators or anyone else who can.

I believe I have fixxed this. Members will no longer see the option for the feature areas.

I'll do this soon enough.

You can see the destination category and description if you click on the ID # or file name, which is something I would want you to do anyways to check if there's porn in the screen shot and etc. I could make that a pop up a new browser... ?

QUOTE
you know how you can select the boxes and "approve them all*, well add the delete option too

Maybe thursday wink.gif

That would be in the "Other" category.

Yes, make it an efficient pop-up window.

The problem is that the Other category covers way too many things, as you can see by the number of them in the database compared to the other categories.

I suggest a "Duplication" category that is like a remake of other games. It should fit well.

Are you saying like a section for WW games, Special forces and the likes of those... inside the others section?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by PCFredZ on 2004-11-03 at 17:39:33
I mean like the Pokemon Catchers, GTA, Civilizations, etc.
WW games, I suppose, also qualify.
Special Forces, however, I have played, but am not really sure if they're duplications of other games or not. If they are, then yes.

BTW, I think the Tug o War games should go under Offense/Defense
