maybe you guys already know this but i just found out you could put sprites in a melee game! btw i didnt really find it out(Sww showed me).

Lol i think i remembered playing a Fastest Possible Map Ever game with some hallucinated mineral sprites. They were placed right at the entrances of our base and so when i tried to rush i was like "WTF?!? GAY!!" then poof! It disapeared and i was like lol.

Yeah that was $$${SD}Fastest$$$ or something. I remember that from the good ol' days of when fastest meant ore close to a start location as opposed to zero clutter today.

Yeah, the only thing that doesn't show up is preplaced units for players 1-8 (or 1-11, not entirely sure).

Interesting note: Sprites that are drawn as units (have 'draw as sprite' unchecked) and belong to player 12 also stay in melee games. This makes it possible to make true anti-rush maps by closing off entrances with buildings. You can also place heroes and such and mind control them.

Supposedly then...you could put nuclear explosion sprites on all the start locations to scare people at first, that would be fun. biggrin.gif

edit:

I had trouble making .pcx picture upload to a site or w/e, and .pcx isn't supported by the attachments thing, but I played around with the sprites thing.

I noticed, it didn't show on minimap, all the units face north like in SF, it doesn't know height limitations (some Carriers were flating under the StarGates), and the untis were stacked, you could walk through and build on/under all the sprite units and buildings, and they had no effect on the map.

I'm wondering a few things now.

Is it possible to place P12 normal units and have them appear in the game (could be unfair though because could mc these units).
Can you have disabled?? sprites for players, such as owning the weird mining SCV sprite or a hlaf built weird looking Missile Turret.
Can splash damage hurt them?

You place the unit sprites, not the other ones, and they show up in game and can be mindcontrolled.

P12 can be placed in Melee and are active, are they not?

When you mind control a unit-sprite, it stays a unit-sprite, right? I haven't actually tested that.

Do you mean P12 will play like a computer? I was thinking, is it possible to place hero units for P12 and have them appear in a melee map, and if so, could you give them preset properties? It would be enat, but could be dangerous because if someone mindcontrolls a few hero units, its a bit unfair for other species players.

edit:

I did some tests. unit-sprites don't seem to appear, and P12 units don't seem to appear, however, sprites like pylon aura and nuclear missile and nuclear target and stuff seem to work fine.

Replying to Dawg, you can have player owned sprites appear in melee.

How come P12 units work for you guys. sad.gif None of them worked for me. Maybe I did something wrong.

I bet Blizzard would patch it though if people started mcing heroes in melee.

I doubt the Melee world will like it, unbalance the map completely, but interesting thought for Fastest Maps, with special spots built to hide special units. Shame you can't edit their health and attack amounts.

leme straight out some things here...

Player 12 Sprites in unit mode with the "draw as sprite" unchecked, appear in the game and can be mind controlled and useable.

Player 12 UNITS, i have no idea, i havent tryed it yet.

Any Player Sprites in Sprite mode, appear in the game, but are un-usable, and un-clickable. AND un-mindcontrollable.
